V2 outputting picture when in Standby Mode

Post by Phattchoo86 » Thu Feb 25, 2021 23:23

So I've just replaced by old T4 with a shiny new V2.
All set up and purring away nicely, but I have noticed something quite strange.

When I put the V2 in standby, it appears to work fine, with the AV output stopping (no sound, black screen etc).
However, when I switch inputs on my AV receiver to another input, and then back to the Beyonwiz input, it displays a still frame (dimmed) of whatever the V2 was playing when I put it in Standby.

for the life of me, I can't figure out why, and can't find anything on any of the forums.

Anyone else experienced/solved this issue?

That problem has been reported way back during early tests, even before the V2 was released. Reproducing it is simple enough. Go to standby, power off TV, power on TV -> find V2 showing the last video frame, but dimmed. The problem has not been fixed. Aside from causing confusion, it appears to have no significant negative effects.

I have some theories as to what's going wrong (in the device drivers), but without access to the device driver source code and the relevant documentation, I can't fix it.

A workaround would be to change enigma2 code to ensure that the last shown frame is black. This would not fix the underlying problem, but it would prevent user confusion. A black screen almost looks the same as being turned off.

I was wondering about this issue too. I would have asked today but you beat me to it. Interesting!
