New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
Hi everyone I have just purchased a V2 and have a couple of questions regarding the image used on the box:
What Image is Beyonwiz based from?
Can I change skins?
Does it have a plugin feed and which one?
Is it locked down? (Does telnet, ssh and FTP work)
I have played with a lot of E2 boxes and still have many lying around and just was wondering how much different my experience will be? Thanks in advance and looking forward to the new unit for my parents to use.

Re: New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
I'm not sure. Peteru can probably answer that.
Yes, but there are only 3 available.
Yes, but it's a beyonwiz one:
src/gz beyonwiz-all http://beta.beyonwiz.org/beyonwiz/19.3/beyonwizv2/all
src/gz beyonwiz-beyonwizv2 http://beta.beyonwiz.org/beyonwiz/19.3/ ... beyonwizv2
src/gz beyonwiz-cortexa15hf-neon-vfpv4 http://beta.beyonwiz.org/beyonwiz/19.3/ ... neon-vfpv4
That's the public beta feeds, but the official one parallel that.
They all work, but are all initially inaccessible (root password blocked).

Wow didn't expect a response that quick thank you! Is there a default Beyonwiz password that I can change with passwd command in terminal?
Re: New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
You can also run the vanilla OpenATV image. The V2 is a supported model.
I believe OpenVix will also run on the V2, but not sure if it has to be cajoled into it.

Re: New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
I heard OpenATV is broken atm on these boxes plus it crashes on the VU+ Duo2 with DVB-T tuners, seems to not like the dib0700 drivers to make a Playstation tuner work. I would love OPENVIX to run on this box with ICETV but not possible atm. I have written to them asking if they will support it in the future. I would be happy with OPENPLi as well but what is this box based on? It would be good to know so I can download a image for it.

Re: New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
It's the image made from https://bitbucket.org/beyonwiz/easy-ui-4
Official images are distributed from the Beyonwiz downloads page: https://beyonwiz.com.au/downloads/
Official releases and public betas are distributed in this forum.
The V2 should come pre-loaded with Beyonwiz official firmware 20191106.

Re: New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
AFAIK, the OpenViX image for the V2 has not been released publicly. No harm in asking whether they would though.
Of all of the Beyonwiz, ATV and ViX firmware for the V2, I prefer the Beyonwiz one anyway. YMMV.

The Python3 Alpha is broken on the V2, but the mainline release works fine.diceman01 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 18:16I heard OpenATV is broken atm on these boxes plus it crashes on the VU+ Duo2 with DVB-T tuners, seems to not like the dib0700 drivers to make a Playstation tuner work. There was a time in early 2020 when it was broken though.
I run it full time on one of my V2's.

Re: New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
Are you talking about OpenATv or VIX? And also whatever image your running is IceTV working on it?
Re: New to Beyonwiz but old E2 user with questions?
OpenATV. I've not tried Vix.
I don't run IceTV, but prl would know more about that since he maintains it.
The plugin is installed by default though.

IceTV runs in ATV and the Beyonwiz image, but not on ViX.

The Beyonwiz developers are all regular posters on the forum.
Peteru maintains the repository and does the builds.
