This change is not just a name change (7 Digital to 7HD {city name}, as additionally the Service Type segment of the Service Reference changes from 0x01 MPEG2 to 0x19 MPEG4.arthurbach4 wrote:OK, for me the answer was a little simpler and in case anyone else was having a similar blonde moment here is the solution:dRdoS7 wrote:Hi,

Thanks!
First time I did a Location scan, and ended up with 3 SD 7s, and 1 HD 7. I did it again (as noted above), and it was as it should be, 2 SD & 1 HD.
dRdOS7
You probably already have channel 70 scanned in but simply haven't included it in your current favourite channels list. Go into the menu options and simply include channel 70.
Thanks.
e.g. For Melbourne LCN 70:
old serviceref 1:0:1:534:503:1013 and name 7 Digital
new serviceref 1:0:19:534:503:1013 and name 7HD Melbourne
If you don't rescan at all, then the above changes won't be recognised.
If you just scan the Seven Network transponder only (RF 6, 177.5 MHz), or do a complete scan without clear, then you'll still have the old "7 Digital" LCN 70 present in the "lamedb" scan data.
The old name won't appear in your Terrestrial TV LCN bouquet, but it will appear in your Providers list.
It will make a difference if you use IceTV to set timers, as they may list against "7 Digital" if that's what they first match when sent and hence won't show as a timer in the EPG.
It won't make a difference if you set timers from the EPG,
It may make a difference if you have timers set by the AutoTimers plugin - I'm not sure of the process, perhaps it is -
- process each AutoTimer entry in turn
- then for each, parse the EPG data looking for a match
- if found, then use the LCN to derive the service ref to use in the timer by looking up the LCN in lcndb. If there are two LCN 70s present, the wrong service ref may be chosen and result in the same issue as IceTV above.
Cheers

Hi,
I checked my wife's T2, unlike me she hadn't done a scan since before 7HD started. Her All Channels list contained 3 x 7 SD, plus the 7HD, same as I had after a scan, but before I did a second "Manual Scan" with a "Clear".

Re: Seven Going Down HD Route too with 7HD
I factory reset my T3 when I want to do a rescan. I have very little customization of the interface options, only use the ICeTV plugin and don't use any of the network streaming features so it's easy for me to do. I've found it's more reliable and all the station numbers don't get out of whack.
At this point in time 7HD in Perth is pretty pointless. 7 showed the Freo AFL game on 7 only while American Pickers was on 7HD. 7 is still failing at the HD game as Melbourne and Adelaide being the only two markets to receive 7HD as a simulcast of Seven's primary channel. WTF

This seems to confirm my and IanB's opinion that the whole 7HD thing has been rushed and mainly motivated by wanting to catch up with the other networks in having "football in HD".Rockets wrote:...

A manual tuner scan with "clear services" will achieve exactly the same result and will be much easier for you to do. I know that re-scanning isn't required very often, but even so, a full factory reset is a bit of a drastic measure for a routine task.Rockets wrote:I factory reset my T3 when I want to do a rescan. There was some discussion over making the "full region scan with clear services" the default option when doing a scan to make it even easier.

How did the new "7HD" service appear on your wife's T2 though, as pre-scan, LCN 70 wouldn't have changed its name though, right?dRdoS7 wrote:Hi,

Re: Seven Going Down HD Route too with 7HD
Hi,
Prior to that it had 7, 70 & 71 all called "7 Melbourne", plus a new 70 called "7HD Melbourne".
Both 70 channels displayed "1920 x 1080" in the Infobox. Both had the same "7" icon.
I added 7HD to her Favs, and removed 7, no idea which one though.

Adding the new Service must be dynamic then (but obviously in this case though still leaving the old details remaining), as was the name change.dRdoS7 wrote: I did a re-scan this morning.

It should be easy to work out by a process of elimination which of the "7 Melbourne" services you knocked out from the Favourites bouquet by determining which is left.
If you're viewing one of the "7 Melbourne" services in Live TV, and then press MENU -> Information -> Service -> OK, then you'll see the Service reference listed (last screen entry). Compare the SID (fourth segment of the service ref string -- 1:0:{service type}:{SID}:{TSID}:{ONID}) from that info display with that of the SIDs below.
LCN 7 (7 Melbourne) is SID 0530
LCN 71 (7 Melbourne) is SID 0531
LCN 72 (7TWO Melbourne) is SID 0532
LCN 73 (7mate Melbourne) is SID 0533
LCN 70 (7HD Melbourne) is SID 0534
LCN 76 (7flix Melbourne) is SID 0535
It probably doesn't matter though unless she is using IceTV

You'll probably need to re-make any AutoTimers filters that contain Seven and 7HD services explicitly, and to check that the Seven services are all correct in any bouquets that AutoTimers use.dRdoS7 wrote:...

Let me clarify my statement. In Perth some day time AFL matches aren't being broadcast in HD. eg Sunday's West Coast game. Let's just hope they broadcast the Grand Final in HD this year.Grumpy_Geoff wrote:Saturday's St Kilda V Fremantle game is on 7Mate HD (LCN 70)Rockets wrote:... From the Freeview Press release:
Some AFL matches in Perth are not available in HD – what’s going on?
Correct – some daytime Perth matches are broadcast on Ch7, not 7mate, and are therefore not simulcast on 7HD. Prior to the introduction of 7HD some Perth daytime matches were on 7 and not available in HD so nothing has changed.

Hi Itstonyb,
The HD channel on the Seven Network is usually associated with the channel that is normally used to broadcast the AFL. I believe this is due to contractual obligations to the AFL.

This depends on where you are located. 7HD as a HD version of 7 is going strong in Melbourne.itstonyb wrote:looks like 7 have dropped 7HD except for simulcasting 7 mate content.

Lets hope it stays this way permanently and they haven't just done it for the Aus Open. Does any one know if Seven have said anything officially about the change? I looked and I couldn't find anything. I did see a post in the in the IceTV forum that it would stay this way until the footy starts.
IceTV EPG has caught up this morning for Perth. It's showing the same content across 7 & 7HD.
Edit: Found a website reporting that it's only for the Tennis and will go back once AFL starts. F**ckers.
