Re: New Codes
The last offer I know about was in Jul 2013, so that wouldn't be valid any more.
You can get a discount by enabling auto-renewal, but it's not nearly as generous as the specials of the past.

Re: New Codes
I think you may have missed the boat. I read sometime last year that IceTV weren't going to continue with the discounted prices because;
1. The discounts had done the job of attracting and retaining customers, and
2. The discounts were seen as devaluing the product.
I was enthusiastic enough to take advantage of a few of the offers and am paid up till 2016.

Re: New Codes
I find $99 annually hard to justify. What other services or mechanisms can be used with a Beyonwiz PVR?
Re: New Codes
If you make it an auto payment, it's only $70 IIRC.markymarkoz wrote:I find $99 annually hard to justify. What other services or mechanisms can be used with a Beyonwiz PVR?
Your other option is the woeful FTA guide - the reason IceTV exists.

Re: New Codes
The web site says it is $79 (plus and 1.5% credit card charge - annoying) for auto renew ?Paul55 wrote: If you make it an auto payment, it's only $70 IIRC.

That's a bit grubby for an online organisation IMOmarkymarkoz wrote:plus and 1.5% credit card charge

Re: New Codes
Where does it say that? It certainly doesn't say it at the point where you enable auto renew. I've never been charged a credit card surcharge for non-auto renewals (but I haven't renewed for a while).Paul55 wrote:That's a bit grubby for an online organisation IMOmarkymarkoz wrote:plus and 1.5% credit card charge

Re: New Codes
Likewise - haven't auto renew set up, but never got to the end of my subscription period. I've done plenty of subscription purchases in the past without a surcharge. That's why I thought it was a bit off if they've introduced one as markymarkoz stated.prl wrote:I've never been charged a credit card surcharge for non-auto renewals (but I haven't renewed for a while).

Re: New Codes
According to the Auto Renew page, it is a surcharge of 1.5% for Visa/MasterCard and 3% for AMEX.
Just noticed that I had a credit card surcharge when I last purchased a subscription in Dec 2012, so it is not something new.

I still can't find it. I've tried Googling with site:icetv.com.au looking for "surcharge", "credit card" and "1.5%".sasmith wrote:According to the Auto Renew page, it is a surcharge of 1.5% for Visa/MasterCard and 3% for AMEX. ...

Go to the Auto-Renew page and select the credit card that you want to use. The text regarding the surcharge will be highlighted in red under the credit card selection.prl wrote:I still can't find it. I've always thought it a bit rich when companies that only allow payment by credit card charge you extra for the privilege of using the credit card.

Re: New Codes
Especially since having an automated system like that would have to be cheaper than opening envelopes with cheques, filling in the paperwork and taking it all to the bank for processing!

Agree 100%.peteru wrote:Especially since having an automated system like that would have to be cheaper than opening envelopes with cheques, filling in the paperwork and taking it all to the bank for processing!
Companies need the interface to the banking environment and most have factored the bank fees into their business model/pricing. So effectively, this is a way a lot of companies increase their prices/revenue without actually saying there was a price increase.

AKA GOUGING!!
I've started a thread on the IceTV forum (which is monitored by company execs) expressing my displeasure at this. Any support by other subscription holders (current, former or potential) can't hurt the case for a more transparent charging regime.
