New Nine Channels
According to these links http://www.9news.com.au/entertainment/2 ... cast-in-hd http://www.cnet.com/au/news/nine-networ ... revamp-hd/, the new Nine channels (and new names) are:
9 - 9 in SD
90 - 9HD
91 - 9 in SD
92 - 9Gem
93 - 9GO!
94 - 9Life
95 - Extra
99 - 9GO!
So channel 90 remains in HD, but will be 9HD and GEM "moves" to 92, although it is currently already there as a simulcast. 9Life is new on 94 and Extra is moved to 95 to replace Extra2. It also looks like they are dropping 99 as the "primary" channel for GO and using 93, although that isn't really much of a change.

Re: New Nine Channels
I scanned all of my 4 TVs and my T3 this morning to get 9 HD, only to find that everything worked fine except my wall mounted kitchen TV.
Did a bit of research only to find
YOU NEED AN MPEG-4 TUNER
My kitchen TV is about 5 years old.
I understand why MPEG-4 is being used but why hasn't Channel told us about this requirement in all of their advertising.

Re: New Nine Channels
Hi Peter,
I seem to remember this being mentioned in one of the earlier promotions. However, I agree that this should have been featured in today's promotions asking people to retune their devices.
Regards.
Ian.

Re: New Nine Channels
At least it's only a simulcast, so you can still get the same content in SD.
I guess that trying to communicate that sort of technical detail to the great unwashed masses was a bit difficult for them.

I was pretty happy to find 9HD works on the old DP-P1!

Re: New Nine Channels
Too technical for mums and dads. The "tech experts" they have been wheeling out only touch on this by saying you need a TV newer that 4 or 5 years old. Nine's FAQ page does mention it though:Peter D wrote:I understand why MPEG-4 is being used but why hasn't Channel told us about this requirement in all of their advertising.

although it's a little misleading. MPEG4 is a method of compression and is resolution independent.

Don't waste your time if you're in a WIN transmission area;

Tested it myself just now and can confirm they're not there.

Re: New Nine Channels
Hi,
I am in Adelaide and have done both a local scan and then a full scan and I can't get the new channels for 9. They show in the list when it is scanning but then as soon as I go back into live TV it reverts to having Gem on 90 etc..
Can anyone suggest what might be going wrong and what to do about it?
Thanks
