New TV Channels Coming Soon...
Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
The spec OP41 says that the duplicate channels that are placed at >350 are the ones that are the lesser quality.
Seem to recall when I as in an area that I was receiving duplicates, this was so. Beyonwiz Dp something or other. Then again it may have been a DGTEC5000I
I also seem to recall that I also saw the EPG of both. FTA. But then again it has been some time, and memory dims at a great rate of knots. Can't recall how it was presented using ICE.

Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
The DP series won’t always put the weakest lowest quality services at 350 & above. The DP-xx always scans the lowest frequency duplicate services before the highest frequency duplicate services, therefore the first scanned duplicate services retain their LCNs & the second scanned duplicate services are placed at 350 &/or above.grampus wrote:The spec OP41 says that the duplicate channels that are placed at >350 are the ones that are the lesser quality.

From someone who had to cope with this before the latest frequency changes; a partial scan was the only way to fix this (or deletion & partial scan if a full scan had already been done).

Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
Hi All,
It looks like ABC will be making the move to HD on its primary channel LCN-2 (and LCN-21) in very late December 2016. This will mean the ABC News 24 will become SD at the same time. Apparently the first broadcast in HD is due to be the New Year fireworks.
Regards,
Ian.

From the same article:IanSav wrote:... very late December 2016. ...
It's going to surprise everyone in non-metro areas to hear that they can already get Seven/Prime in HD.Once completed this will leave Seven viewers in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth as the only primary channel not available in High Definition.

ABC HD (20) is live ... at least in Sydney.
The old DP-H1 picked up new service without a rescan. The H1 lives on
New T2 picked it up but ended up showing channel 7 when 20 was keyed in on remote. Strange. No drama though - a full channel rescan fixed it.
Stat mux bitrate for 20 was 2-5Mb/s according to EyeTV - will check again tonight when they have some real HD content instead of upscaled studio talking heads.

Oh. So 5500 Bps or 44 kbps?raymondjpg wrote:5500 bytes per second.prl wrote:Is that 5500 kbps?
That's for the whole video channel? I know MPEG4 is good, but that just doesn't sound right.
I just did a short recording of ABC HD and I'm seeing ~4.2 Mbits/sec (for a repeat of The Cook and the Chef), which seems much more like what I'd expect.

OK, I was reading the Maximum Bitrate Descriptor from the header entry for ABC HD in TSReader.prl wrote:For the whole channel , or just the audio?raymondjpg wrote:5500 bytes per second.prl wrote:Is that 5500 kbps?
So the Video Maximum bitrate for ABC HD is given as 1037950 bytes per second and the Audio Bitrate as 384 Kbps

I can go with that. I was just puzzled that it could possibly be as low as 5500 bits/sec, or even 44 kbits/sec.

WIN Network to launch Sky News channel after securing supply deal
Community television broadcasters granted two year licence extensionAustralian News Channel (ANC) and the WIN Network (WIN) have sealed a program supply agreement that will see WIN broadcast Sky News content across its regional free-to-air television network on a dedicated channel, 'Sky News on WIN'.
The dedicated channel will feature select Sky News content in news, sport, weather and public affairs programming later this year on channel 83 across WIN’s regional network and channel 53 across Northern NSW.
A further two year extension will enable stations in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne to finalise their arrangements for vacating terrestrial spectrum by 30 June 2020.

Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
For anyone in the Port Macquarie, Taree, Forster, and Gloucester areas, NBN Television channels will need a rescan as of this morning (2-Sep-18 6:00am). Link to the NBN Television website.
Don't forget to correct any existing Nine/NBN timers with the new services after scanning.
On a T or U series wiz, if wanting to move these services around in the FAV list after removing the old services & adding the new ones, use the UP/DOWN arrow buttons instead of the Channel UP/DOWN buttons. This is incorrect in FAV > HELP.
(This is with at least f/w 17.5.20180901 on a T2 & U4)

Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
Hi All,
Just a quick heads up on some channel changes coming up soon...
The Seven Network Australia will be adding a new channel called "7Food" in December. From "www.news.com.au" - "The network announced today that it’s partnered with Discovery to launch the 7food network on Channel 74 from December 1."
https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/t ... aa4fd3de47
https://mumbrella.com.au/seven-to-launc ... ork-548599
https://mediaweek.com.au/seven-launching-7food/
I don't know if the logos in these news reports are the official logo. I also believe that content from the current "SBS Food Network" will be moving over to "7Food" as source material will be coming from the same originating "Food Network".
Regards,
Ian.

Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
From the press release that Jasmeet linked to, it appears that the name will be "7food network".
Some bits of the press release read a bit awkwardly, too: "... 7food network, Australia’s new destination for food coming to Channel 74 on December 1." A bit more thought, and perhaps a comma after "for food," might have been a good idea, though that alone doesn't really fix it

Will apparently channel 10 have now rebranded themselves. I just speed this new "10 Peach" watermark on "Eleven". "ONE" is now "10 Boss".
I guess I wasn't paying attention, this took me by surprise.
I do not like :-/.
A service scan still brings up the old names though.

I wonder how much the consultancy firm got for coming up with the new branding? What a waste of time and money

Hi,
The new logos are all up on Logopedia. In Melbourne all the watermarks have changed but none of the NIT table entries have been updated to match the watermarks.

I think some of the naming (Boss, Peach, anyone?) is even sillier than the new 10 logo. Perhaps Karsten has moved on to Ten from the Nation Building Authority Or has April arrived early?
The new naming has filtered through to the NIT now, at least in Canberra. The NIT naming of 10 Boss and 10 Peach here is as BOSS Location and PEACH Location. The "10" handle that's supposed to be part of the new branding style isn't used in the NIT names.
A rename of Ten News to Ten News First was also mentioned on the IceTV forum. I've never heard of a Ten News channel. Out here in the sticks we get the glories of Sky News on WIN, instead.
It looks as though I might need a call for at least metro scan data, or at least an idea of what the channel renaming is exactly in the metro areas.
The Ten press release about the rebranding is Its [sic] 10 but not as you know it.

Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
I haven't re-scanned, but the service names are identified as 10, 10 Peach, 10 Boss, 10 HD in the channel list (FAV).

Re: New TV Channels Coming Soon...
Thanks, Geoff. All those changes should be do-able without new scan info.
Is the top instance of 10 Boss in the screenshot LCN1?
Any idea what this Ten News or 10 News First of which the IceTV forum speaks is?

As per Jasmeet, it's not a new service, just a rebranding of their main news program.

Ah. So it's a program, not a channel? Apologies for my confusion.

Thanks, Geoff. I think that with your screenshot and my scan of Canberra, I can do the rebrand without any additional scan data.

Hi Prl,
In Melbourne, Networks Seven and Ten have changed their LCN line-up. I have attached a scan for your reference.
Regards,
Ian.
