No SBS reception

Post by nexus7 » Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:19

Help!
All of my SBS channels have disappeared. No Top Gear!
I have rescanned channels 30 to 34, but get nothing (both on my Wiz and 'another' brand)
All other channels are fine.
SBS has been fine until now.
I have a combined VHF/UHF antenna, and it looks undamaged.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Area = Sydney - upper north shore

Is SBS your only UHF channel? UHF=ch28 and above.

It could be a bit of coax or joint in the diplexer between the VHF part of the antenna and the UHF part. It may have begun corroding and broke, or a cockatoo might have chewed thru it.
Do you normally pick up D44? This is the only other UHF broadcast I get in Sydney where I live.

I was trying to nail down the same question. I've had the cockatoo problem myself :)

Dust off that old analogue portable in the bedroom and check there are UHF signals coming out of the cable. Are the UHF analogue signal strong and clear or weak and snowy?

If weak and snowy, then you have something easier to diagnose. Digital is a real prick to diagnose with, it either works or it does not, there is no weak and snowy to work on.

I am currently experiencing issues with my SBS, SBS One, SBS Two & SBS HD reception. (Extremely frustrating right in the middle of the Tour de France and Ashes!!). Previous to this post I have had no issues with SBS reception at all.

Anyways, every other channel is working perfectly on the Bewonwiz. Signal quality and signal strength is fantastic. However on SBS the reception is almost always interrupted.

Pre digital, the analogue signal on SBS was always bad also, but it is odd that the digital reception has only just gone bad now also.

I have a DPS1 am running the most up to date firmware (1.05.301).

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Scotty.

Fracaro, Fracaro, Fracaro ! Just installed another one - whilst laying on the roof (on a sheet of cardboard) of the carport just for the fun of it I hooked it up to a telly in the old garage now the "East Wing" and perfect reception on all channels :D They really are great antennas.. It is now elevated 0.5metre off the roof just to look professional!

Yep, I have a Fraccaro LP345HV and this is an awesome little antenna for where I live, no reception glitches whatsoever.
