Error Loading Media File

Post by Super_Roo » Fri Feb 22, 2008 12:57

Hi Guys,

I recorded Wednesday's episode of Underbelly & Cashmere Mafia. I get a message from a friend Thursday morning asking if I recorded Underbelly and could I record it onto a DVD for them as they accidentally recorded Ch7. No probs I thought (although I would have to output via 576p) but when I got home I go to watch it (and record it at the same time) and I get an error message (Error Loading Media File) which I have never seen before  .

Has anybody else had this error? Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks,
Super_Roo

Yep, have seen it when I edited a file once. Simply transfer with WizFX in TS mode, and then manipulate on your PC into whatever format you want to provide them.

Hi Super_Roo,

I think I read that someone else had a similar issue. They powered down the Beyonwiz for a minute or so, powered it back up and the file was playable again. You may care to give it a try.

Regards,
Ian.

Do you know if it was a hard reset or just putting it in standby? I put the BW in standby shortly afterwards but it hasn't fixed it. Maybe I'll try a hard reset now.

I did think about transferring the file but I dont have a home network nor an external HDD to back-up to (I am saving for 500gb one though).
Thanks,
Super_Roo

My memory is telling me to say that the person only went to Standby. (Mind you I think that going to Standby is a good as pulling the power plug with Beyonwiz PVRs.)

Ian.

What size is the file, you will get this if the file is only a few meg in size also, as the mediaplayer seems to buffer a bit to work it out and if for some reason the file was stopped recording early on (broadcaster stopped sending, or HDD space run out, or power failure or finger troubles), you get the same error message.
It would be nice if the fileplayer interface was jazzed up a bit to show a bit more info about the files... this would highlight if the size was a problem immediately rather than having to fire up WizFX to have a look.

...
The OP talked about recording whole episodes of Underbelly and Cashmere Mafia. Unless the recordings got cut short, they should be much longer than the couple of minutes worth that the media classifier seems to need.

yes, but that is what my post was trying to indicate, that perhaps they were cut short by full HDD, broadcaster dropping out, power outage, whatever... this is certainly one explanation for this error, and of course easily proven wrong by looking at the file size ;-)
