ABC have realigned their channels.

Post by grampus » Mon Feb 11, 2008 06:58

ABC have now altered their channels, so that ABC2 is now on LCN 22, the old ABC2 (LCN21) is ABC1.
A new LCN has appeared LCN23 wich is identifies as ABC3.

The BW requires a rescan of the channel to have the realignment happen.

As a matter of interest, Windoze Media Centre didn't require a rescan. All that was picked up without interevention.

My toppy 5000 must be retarded, because a rescan adds ABC3 (CH 23) but does not reconfigure channel 21 to ABC1 and channel 22 to ABC2

My guess is I may have to delete all my timers and /or do a factory reset to start from scratch

Anyway off to the toppy forum to see whats going on . . .

Hi,

The rescan of VHF12 was painless for me. The old ABC entries were removed and the new ones created. The Beyonwiz didn't even make a mess of my favourites. Al in all a smooth transition for me.

Regards,
Ian.

maybe the toppy needs to have all ch 2 references removed from the service list first and let them be rediscovered.

Wonder who thinks what comes first PID or LCN as the start of the chain?

I've done a reset and rescan on my DP-S1, however, I cannot view LCN 21 - blank screen, no audio. Works fine on my PC with FusionHDTV (even though 21 doesnt have the option for DD like LCN 2 does)...

Anyone else noticed this?

If you live in Sydney, I have noticed that the 2 repeaters at North Head and Kings Cross, still have the old LCNs, whilst the mian TX ABC channels have been updated.

This gave me some grief in JustEPG as the cursor would not come on on the right channel as JE was brought up. Maybe a similar problem with the Wiz's EPG?

I haven't done anything on the wiz, and get to ABC2 with LCN21, ABC with 2 and 22, ABCHD with 20 still, in Sydney VHF12.
Same with the 5K for that matter. So as far as I can tell, nothing has changed yet?
Ahh, ok, just scanned and I see ABC2 moved, ABC is called ABC1, and a new ABC3 pops up.

Visited the toppy fourm and tonymy01,s post suggested deleting all of the channel two`s from the service list . . .worked :)

This also removed all the channel two timers I had set, but not a big deal.

Better than doing an unnesesary factory reset like another user did.

Worked for me, too, but there was one oddity. When I deleted the old ABC services from the service list, it popped up a message box saying "All linked items will be deleted. Delete item?", but it in fact only deleted the ABC service entries from the first group in my favourites groups, and left them in the other groups. This surely must be a bug -- it should delete the entries from all service groups.

After I'd scanned chan 9a (ABC Digital Canberra), the ABC entries that remained in the favorites list had had their names updated, but to be sure, I deleted and reinserted them anyway. Wish there was a way to do an "add before" or "add after" in the service groups, and not just an "add at end" :(

You talking Toppy or Wiz? For the Toppy, you can use one of the colour keys to move the fave around in your favourite group.

On the BW when you bring the favouites up you can use the Blue key to move the channels up and down to different positions. Once you have moved it you press the Blue key again to "accept".

It won't delete or affect the programs you've recorded. You will probably need to delete and recreate any ABC timers you have. The others should be OK.

The last time I rescanned for just ABC on my S1 I cleared the old ABC services first & I think that did clear all previously set ABC timers, but all timers on any other service were naturally still there. I?m not sure what happens if you don?t clear the services before rescanning ? I haven?t tried this.

I cleared the old services first because I suspected I could end up with duplicate services after a rescan if I didn?t.
Someone else may be able to confirm if this will happen.

It?s not a bad idea to keep a record of which channels are what channel number & frequency just in case you need to rescan just one channel at any time.

A factory reset will clear all timers, services & reset all settings to default.
An Internal HDD format will clear all recordings on the Internal HDD.

A rescan doesn't give you duplicates unless you scan the full spectrum and pick up a repeater of the broadcaster.
