Unable to force frequencies with manual scan

Post by Pinballer » Fri Aug 06, 2021 19:20

Hello all,

We have a T2 box, we live in Geelong with our anntena pointed to towards Melbourne. We have had good reception for years but have started to get pixelation on channel 7.
I decided to point the anntena towards the Geelong tower which is only 10km from our house. On the roof I could see the tower (line of sight completely clear) and could point directly at it. I confirmed this using the anntena mate app.
The antenna was installed 16 years ago and is an old Analogue model but has been fine in the past.

I tried to rescan the channels using the location setting and full scan both would not pick up the Geelong frequencies on any channel except channel 2.

If I disconnect the box and use the tv tuner, the TV tuner will find the Geelong channels, but the T2 won’t.

If I try to do a manual scan and force the Geelong 655.500 frequency it will just revert to the Melbourne 177.500 frequency. I have tried for hours with all sorts of settings but cannot make the T2 use the Geelong frequency.

Please help as I am tearing my hair out!

Forgot to add I also tried updating to the latest firmware but still cannot get any group of channels to select the Geelong frequencies other than channel 2

Might be time for a new antenna?

Others might have other solutions though.

You really need to be more specific as latest firmware can mean a few things. There is a release version, various online updates for that, a number of beta updates, and again online updates for that. If you have a look under the Menu > Information > About, you will find the Build number.

I would suggest if not already you update to the beta firmware and run the script for the beta feed. I don't think it is related to your problem but it will give you all the latest drivers and fixes.

What settings did you use for the manual scan?
e.g.
User defined transponder, channel 46 / 655,500 KHz, Network Scan: off

Thanks so much that was all it was, changing Network Scan to off and it fixed my problem.
I thought it must be something simple like that but could not find any detailed info on all the different settings inside the manual scan area.
Thanks again Geoff! You saved my sanity, I played with a lot of settings but overlooked that one

I'm glad you sorted your problem but for future reference that really isn't telling anyone that much as it narrows it down from a few hundred to maybe fifty or a hundred possible versions. Do have a look at the menu as I suggested some time and you will have the information for next time.
Cheers

Sorry, I didn’t realise there was more than one. I just found the update in the ‘offical firmware releases’ thread. It’s in the stickied post ‘new firmware’ 6/11/2019.
Is this the latest official firmware?

That is the latest public firmware; many of us have been running beta firmware without significant problems. The latest beta release is 19.3.20210804
