7mate Replaces 7HD in Perth

Hi Guys

I noticed overnight here in Perth that 7mate is now being broadcast on LCN 70 & in HD replacing the primary 7 channel in HD. I re-scanned the channels on another TV it's still reporting as 7HD but the content & Guide is for 7mate. Is this expected? I can't find announcement for this happening. This is annoying as all hell as we don't watch 7mate at all but watch a lot of 7 which is now in SD only. I'm assuming this is so that more AFL matches are broadcast in HD.

Anybody in Perth noticed this?

Thanks for the heads-up. I just checked and confirm your observations that LCN 70 is now showing 7mate with the '7mate HD' logo

On my Samsung TV tuner I’m still seeing the LCN label as 7HD.

OurGuide also shows channel 7 as being on 7, 70 HD at the top of the column.

IceTV EPG is showing 70 HD has having the same content as 7 instead of 7mate.

It appears the change is only for today. The FTA guide from tomorrow onwards is back to usual programming of 7 simulcasting on 7HD, with 7mate not simulcasted.
Perhaps we're going to see this every time a game is on 7mate.

Perth IceTV users may want to make sure that they're not using "only HD" IceTV recordings and change any of them to "prefer HD" so that IceTV can switch to recording from 7 when 7HD gets taken over by 7mate.

Checked it again today and yep 70HD is now switched to showing Channel 7 content. I really hope this isn’t going to a thing each weekend for the rest of the AFL season.

Perhaps only for Eagles or Dockers away games
It can't simply be when clashing with the prime-time news program at 6pm, as next Saturday's derby broadcast starts at 6pm and is on 7/7HD.
The next two 7mate broadcasts don't involve either of the Eagles or Dockers.
