Missing Filelist U4

Post by Zjonn » Thu Mar 15, 2018 19:48

Hi there, I am new to Beyonwiz, had my U4 1Tb delivered earlier today and am trying to set the machine up to record. I must be doing something wrong, though I can't see what, having never had this problem before with any other make.
The machine's instructions as to how to record are pretty straight forward, the play back on the other hand, well, the instructions don't make sense.
Press Media, OK,
Press Filelist, where or what is that? There is nothing on the media page, at least not on my machine, that is called 'Filelist'.
If anyone has some idea as to how to access recordings, I would be most grateful.

To access recordings from live TV, press MEDIA.

There isn't a FILELIST button, and if the documentation mentions one, it's wrong.

Yeah, you're right. the manual does say that -
"4.13 Recording Playback
How to use > Press 'Media'
You can view recorded files on the Recorded files menu. Press Filelist to activate this menu."

prl has advised you on how to get to your recordings.

When you are in the media/movie/recordings list, press the HELP button to see all available actions.

Get into the habit of pressing the HELP button everywhere, until you become very familiar with the 'Wiz.

Thanks for that quick response, unfortunately it didn't resolve my problem.
On accessing Media, Help doesn't give me access to nor does it mention a Filelist folder.
There are five folders which display on Media as follows:
.. Directory
timeshift Directory
movie Directory
lost+found Directory
Trash Directory
so I hope someone has some other ideas as to how to resolve my problem.

There isn't a filelist folder but you are viewing the filelist.

Select movie and press OK

That should show your recording.

It should be defaulting to the movie folder though so it might be worth checking in settings once you have confirmed you have found your recordings.

I finally got there, unfortunately nothing about this is mentioned in the U4 documentation but at the end of the day it is actually quite simple.
On pressing the MENU button on the remote, a raft of options become available including Recordings and Timers. To get out of that option press the EXIT key.
It may perhaps be time for the powers that be to invest in a bit of proofreading and fix up the user manual and take out the many references to the T series of machines to avoid what was a rather poor introduction to what appears to be a good product.
Thanks to everyone who responded, it's great to know that help is at hand when it is needed.

The T series interface is pretty much identical.

Press Media, OK,
...

I think this is where the instructions first led you astray.

Pressing MEDIA for the first time ever should have taken you to the first entry in the "movie" directory where your recordings are stored.

That first entry is always ".. Directory" (for parent directory). Pressing OK on that will take you up one level in the directory system where you'll see the list
.. Directory
timeshift Directory
movie Directory
lost+found Directory
Trash Directory
After that, the media player remembers your last directory and your place in it, and pressing MEDIA from live TV would take you straight back there. Once you navigate back into the "movie" directory, pressing MEDIA from live TV will take you straight back to the place you last were in the "movie" directory.

Pressing OK on media file or recording entries plays them, pressing OK on a directory entry enters that directory.
