Reception in Perth 8/11/2017?

Post by MrQuade » Wed Nov 08, 2017 23:30

Anyone else in Perth seeing very bad reception with tonight's storms?

My Channel Ten and ABC are usually not that flash, but tonight I am seeing especially bad reception. To the point that I could not tune Ten at all earlier in the evening. It's a bit better now, but I am reading 40% on both signal strength and quality. (to the T4's credit, the picture is hanging in there).

Nup sorry, my ABC was fine - I watched a fair bit of Gruen from timeshift, then all of Rosehaven from chaseplay, without any issues.

Your signal meters aren't reading lower than normal on Ten/ABC?

Might be time to finally get that antenna guy out. More money.... :(

Says the guy who just dropped a bag of dosh on an 65" OLED. ;-)

I need one too - you should have shopped around for a BOGOF sale, MrQuade.

I could probably (just) afford the shipping.

And the reason I am now destitute! ;)
I have noticed that I tend to upgrade TVs every 6 years or so, as that seems to be the point of pain where I am missing out on significant features.

I've had to accept that I can't replace my receiver just yet though, and am making do with some creative hookup arrangements so that I can get HDR out of my XBox. My receiver upgrades are on a roughly 5 year replacement cycle as well, and it looks like the TV and Receiver synchronised their dates this time round, much to my wallet's despair. When's the next mining boom again?

I'll send photos :-P

Seriously though, the price of the 55" sets has dropped significantly in the last couple of months, and there have been several 20% off sales on EBay of late. The OLED 55" versions actually have a better picture quality than the 65"s which tend to suffer more from greyscale band artifacts (mine has a couple of dim ones). Good LEDs are a bit cheaper, and will have a better display quality than my old 55" Samsung, with all the modern fruit.
