Unable to connect to IceTV

Post by robbo » Sun Sep 14, 2014 19:44

A little over a week ago I bought a subscription to IceTV for my DPP1 and have yet to get it to work. The most I've achieved so far is the download of two channels of epg but that's gone now too.

I spent time on the phone with IceTV who say the problem is not theirs. As far as they're concerned all is well.

I spent time on the phone with Netgear who say their equipment is working fine. We removed the firewall completely from the device so there's no blockage at all

I spent time on the phone with my ISP (iiNet) who confirmed that all appears well

This is my last resort. The problem is I am getting "couldn't resolve host" messages or "bad Iceling message received from the server" or it simply times out. Get scheduler tasks is OK.

I have no trouble getting onto the internet with any other devices.

Can anyone help or should I just throw this unit in the bin and buy a Humax or something that will work?

Actually describing the settings you have for IceTV and networking on the P1 and how you've tried to connect might help find the problem.

"Couldn't resolve host" suggests that DNS isn't configured properly on the P1 (or on the router, though if it was a router DNS problem, it would probably affect more than the P1.

Beyonwiz units work very well with iceTV so there must be a problem in your settings.
Is your Wiz properly connected to your home network? If so, wired or wireless?
Can you log on to your IceTV account from your PC?

On the Wiz;
Press setup buton and then move right to network.
Under Setting just use DHCP,
Under Ice Guide you should see Enable. Owner ID, ***** (password), Check and the unique name you gave the device on the IceTV website. You can use Check to see if you are able to log in to IceTV.
Under WizPNP I have enable, enable, Wiz P1 (can be any name) and 49152
Under Windows Sharing I use wiz, *** (wiz) and leave the last one blank.

Make sure you have done a full service scan and that your channels match what you have set for your region on the IceTV website.

Thanks for your replies. Ok here's my config and setup:
Under Setting DHCP is enabled
Ip Address: 192.168.000.006 (This agrees with my Netgear Genie map)
Subnet mask 255.255.255.000
Gateway 192.168.000.001
Primary DNS Server IP is 192.168.000.001
Secondary server Ip is 000.000.000.000

Under Ice Guide Enable.
Owner ID ...
Password: *****
When I select Check I get a message confirming that it's ok

When it tries to get the epg data it comes back with a message that says "failed to get the epg data"
Then is says Try to et scheduler tasks
Then try to get the epg data and MSG "Couldn't resolve host".
Sometimes it says "Bad Icelink message received from server"
Then Get scheduler tasks: OK
Eventually it starts its 15 minute timer.

Under WizPNP I have
Cleint enable,
Server enable,
Name beyonwiz
Port 49152

Under Windows Sharing I use
Default User Name wiz,
Default password ***
Default workbook I had my workgroup name but as per your suggestion I have changed it to blank.

Still won't work!

The WizPnP and Windows sharing settings shouldn't affect IceTV.
