Will BeyonWiz ever work with IceTV Remote?

IceTV remote enables you to view a program guide on the internet, select programs to record, and then send the timer settings automatically to your BeyonWiz.

Not THAT would be handy.

Will the BW ever support this?

And the underlying protocol supports even more features, like transfer of recordings between PVRs and downloading of files. There is no user interface for it and therefore it is not accessible to users.

I am only aware of one implementation (a Linux command line program in my development tree) capable of supporting these features. I don't think any of the PVR manufacturers have implemented this yet.

This is a killer feature in my opinion. Don't sweat the esoterics in the later firmware, get this one implemented. It will help you sell boxes I tell you.........

It would be handy, I have been missing shows cos I havent realised they are on, going from using Teds on the toppy its a bit of a step back. :(

Couldn't agree more. TED/s has to be one of the best utilities for EPG data. I do the same in letting it schedule for me and we find we vary rarley miss a show - usually because the drive is full.
It has been one of the issues that has held me back from purchasing a BW sooner, as I know I will have to retain the toppy to record all my shows.

I know it's not BW/beta-tester policy to comment too much about upcoming firmware, but can anyone give me one of those trademark subtle hints about whether support for IceTV Remote/PIMP might be available in the firmware that may or may not currently be in testing?

Fingers crossed!

Hi Peterjcat,

My hint is that I haven't heard anything about IceTV changes in the current beta firmware. As per Jackie's message the current beta is focused on completing the promised feature set.

Regards,
Ian.

Thanks Ian. Guess I'll keep setting those timers for now!

I noted today that the Ice tv site has a Remote TV page which has settings for the Wiz S1 and P1.

This was in the section for programming a series, which will hopefully cope with the commercial channels' unbelievable programming modifications. I could not see a "pad front and rear" option.

I know I am probably reading too much into this, but it looks quite likely this functionality will soon be ready for Wiz inclusion.

Matthew

EDIT: BTW, I think "record series" is FANTASTIC and I look forward to using it. Good on you ICE and Wiz!

PPS: I have a month left on my Free ICE trial, there is NO WAY I can live without it now :); good marketing ICE people.
