PLUGIN button and MediaPortal
PLUGIN button and MediaPortal
Just something that has always been in the OpenATV firmware that I never bothered to follow up on.
The default action on the PLUGIN button appears to want to launch the MediaPortal plugin.
What's that all about? I know what MediaPortal is, but why is a button linked specifically to that? Is MediaPortal way more popular in Europe and OpenATV usually expect to see it as a bundled plugin?
I can't see a way to re-map the plugin button to something a bit more useful.

Hi MrQuade,
Try MENU > Setup > Usage & User Interface > Hotkey Settings.

Re: PLUGIN button and MediaPortal
Ahh thanks for that! I overlooked that entry. I was thinking it should be under buttons, and didn't spot the alternative.
Also, what a weird interface that Hotkey screen has. No ability to navigate the options or preview what they are currently set to without entering into configure mode.
Interesting that you can assign multiple actions to each button. I presume if an action is not available when pressing a button in a particular screen, the Wiz will move down the list of additional actions until it finds one that will work in the current context.
Seems PLUGIN has the keycode associated with Mark/Portal/Playlist.
Maybe a better default action would be to launch the default media player rather than MediaPortal.
I've linked it to the extensions menu since that makes three most sense for the V2 PLUGIN button label.

Hi MrQuade,
If I remember correctly when multiple functions are assigned to a button a pop up selection menu is offered.

Ian.
