Orphan files in the Movie folder

Post by BobS » Fri Jan 19, 2024 06:13

I’ve been looking at the Movie folder via Windows Explorer and noticed that I have many ‘orphaned' files. Eg parts of old recordings that were deleted long ago.
They do not appear in the Movie List
Is there a tool/option to clean out these files or should I just delete them via Windows Explorer?

There's nothing I know of to automatically clean the files out. You need to do it manually, either with Windows Explorer, or on the PVR, using File Commander (MENU>Sources / Files).

Out of curiosity, what filename extensions to the orphaned files have? Presumably not .ts, they should show up in the recordings list.

When recordings are deleted using the delete function in the media selection screen (MEDIA from live TV), all the files that make up a recording should be deleted at once. Similarly if you delete a recording's .ts file in File Commander.

Deleting recordings file-at-a-time using Windows Explorer depends on the user deleting all the individual files that make up the recording. I'm not saying that that's the cause, but it could be.
