Read v2 linux drive under windows 11?

Post by Fandangles » Mon Dec 26, 2022 17:48

I don't know what the native file system on a v2 linux format drive except that no windows utility (linux readers, drivers etc) has recognised it as anything.

Don't have a wifi dongle for the v2 (the networking is also as slow as molasses) and would like to back it up, especially now that beyonwiz has gone dark.

Does anyone know of a way that would let me connect the drive to windows and read it?

Try WSL2.

(Disclaimer: I don't use Windows, but I hear they are trying to be interoperable.)

The Linux subsystem for Linux may allow you to read the V2 drive. My recollection is that it uses Ext4 file system.

There is a discussion of how to accesss Linux file systems on the oztoppy wiki (rather outdated): http://oztoppy.wikidot.com/external-hdd

I use UFS Explorer Standard Recovery which reads just about any files system (but it is very expensive). USF Explorer standard access is a cheaper option: https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explore ... rd-access/.

Doing a web searh using the term "read linux disk on windows 10" brings up several opitions, some of them are free.
