V2 old Sony PS2 twin tuner

Post by NedIS » Fri May 01, 2020 11:00

My T3 finally died last week ordered new V2 which arrived the other day!

Found an old PS2 twin tuner box my son had given me plugged it into the V2 and it is working!

Does that make my V2 a V4?

Haha, glad you discovered that. I specifically asked for the drivers to be modified to allow the PS3 play tv to work on the V2 during beta testing :).

Unfortunately, they are not redetected if you reboot the V2, it needs a full power cycle.

So this makes it somewhat unreliable.

I have been using it for three days now from both shutdown and standby without any problems,
I will keep my fingers crossed!

It also worked fine on an old laptop running Linux Mint!

Perform a reboot from the V2's shutdown menu and check what happens.

Did the reboot from menu power shutdown all four tuners working on restart?

Interesting. They must have quietly fixed that up then :)

Excellent. There is one other dual USB tuner option available if anyone can find a cheap second hand Play TV :)

(Note that you wouldn't automatically expect just any dual tuner to work. The V2 does need working drivers for tuners, and there aren't many drivers available for the particular kernel version the V2 uses :).)

Yes, it can receive HD broadcasts, and the V2 will just record whatever data it receives.

The "HD" capability is really up to the V2.

I'm absolutely stoked I found this thread. Just sorry it took so long.

I dug up my old PlayStation twin-tuner, connected it up and I can very happily report it does indeed work.

Thanks for heads up, guys! Much appreciated. 8)

I wish I saw this before as I purchased a V2 earlier today with extra tuner and have 2 Playstation tuners lying around :P
