Upgrading to V2 after T3 fried, recover old HD
Upgrading to V2 after T3 fried, recover old HD
So my old T3 died, there was much morning and sadness
Have ordered a new V2, currently waiting with much anticipation
Hoping I can put the olde HDD into a usb3 caddy and it will work, am I dreaming?
While I wait is there a way I can get things from the old HDD, back in the DP-P2 days WixFX did wonders, but that was a different era. I have tried mounting it on a linux box, but no luck, gparted did not recognise the file system. Is there a way to mount the drive from mac/windows/linux?

If the HDD is still OK, that will work. Just don't restore your settings from the T3 onto the new box, especially if you use IceTV.

The internal HDD in a T3 (in fact, all T/U/V models) is formatted as ext4 by default. That's a very standard Linux filesystem type. Perhaps your Linux setup doesn't have ext4 drivers installed? Or perhaps the HDD was fried, too.
There may be ext4 drivers available for Windows. The last time I tried to use free ext4 drivers for MacOS, they didn't work properly (but it was a while ago).

Great thanks.
I will plug the drive in again and try it again, but sounds like operator error

If you want to be able mount the T3 drive in your PC, search for a driver called Ext2Fsd and install it. Works well.
Cheers
