New V2 config

Post by shanew » Fri Dec 27, 2019 12:12

Thinking of buying a V2 to replace our faulty Topfield TRF7160.

(Reviews of the alternative Fetch Mighty seriously raise questions about reliability, and it lacks ad skipping, providing only 32x plus jump-back).

V2 config I'm considering is -
Quad tuner
WiFi dongle

Will that require 3 USB ports, and therefore require me to buy the USB hub?

Should I buy a 1TB HDD (+$100) or a 512GB microSD card ($139, https://www.flashtrend.com.au/samsung-e ... gL3QfD_BwE)

If I buy the microSD card, will that slot into the V2 or is a 'carrier' needed to enlarge the card?

Anything else I should consider for the V2?

One other question - does the V2 EPG allow you to view each channel's guide vertically on a seperate 'page', like SmartEPG on the Topfield? (instead of all the channels listed together with shows stretching horizontally).

Thx.

It will if you want a HDD or thumb drive (which you'll probably want for firmware updates), but not for a card.

That obviously depends on your usage. I have a 512GB HDD for the T2 and that's been good enough for me (at one time it held about three dozen movies and over a hundred shows; the shows had the ads "punched", though, and I don't use timeshift).

It's designed for microSD.

Yes (called Single EPG, which is my default).

Thanks for your help Adoxa 👍

Would the specific card I linked to above be suitable for the V2?

I believe so, but others might have more advice on that.
