Record file format and HDD question
Record file format and HDD question
Just a couple more questions on the V2
What file format does it record in (MPEG , TS , MTS or what)
Does one recording finish up in one file or like some other recording units in multiple small TS files ?
Also notice on these forums some chat regarding HDD formats.
Seems the V2 uses some other format than NTFS ?
I would be wanting to Take the HDD with recordings from the V2 straight to my windows PC .
Would this be a drama ?
Any advice appreciated.

Re: Record file format and HDD question
Recordings are made as single .TS files containing the originally broadcast video and audio encoding
The V2 uses the ext4 Linux filesystem which can't be read by windows without installing special drivers.
The V2 can operate more or less happily with a NTFS formatted drive though. Some of the trickier video editing tricks won't work, but that's not a big loss of you really want that drive to connect to windows.
You may find that you don't actually need that capability though. The V2 can push 100MB/s over its network interface which is pretty speedy.

Re: Record file format and HDD question
I have the USB drive attached to my V2 mapped on my PC so it's just another disc, open the TS file in TS-doctor for editing etc...
