Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
I have 2 U4s and on 1 of them the Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server is falling apart & the cable is not in as new condition, I have 2 questions 1) If I want to replace only the cable, when I go into Jaycar or the like what cable number do I ask for? 2) If I can't repair the casing on the server can I buy another brand of Mini server or do I have to to Beyonwiz?
Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
What is the "HDMI mini-server"?
Are you referring to an HDMI splitter (for feeding a third party external video source into the U4's HDMI-IN port), or are you referring to the Beyonwiz WizTV smart HDMI dongle (The Android streaming device)?
Also, what cable is broken? Power or video?

Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
If what you mean is the media player devices to watch Youtube, Netflix, etc I replaced mine as per this post.
However, it's difficult to scroll horizontally in Netflix.
The video cable is just a standard HDMI cable.
My new TV has all the apps built-in so I now use that exclusively. It's a far better solution.

Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
If we're talking about a Beyonwiz WizTV smart HDMI dongle, a standard short extension HDMI cable. Plug one end, socket the other. A standard HDMI cable has plugs both ends.
Something like this, though even it is longer than the supplied cable: https://www.cablechick.com.au/cables/30 ... gLsp_D_BwE

Touché! I was wondering where I got my short extension cable from - leftover from the dongle replacement no doubt.

Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
The thing I'm referring to (it says Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server on the outside) plugs into a HDMI socket at the back of U4 and then the end of this you plug a cable and at the other end of the cable is an Aerial ssocket which plugs into the U4.
Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
Are you sure you have that right? I can't think of any device that would plug into a PVR that has both a HDMI interface and an antenna interface.

Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
Are you referring to a USB tuner? Silk-screened with "Beyonwiz MINI DVB®T TERRESTRIAL". It looks like this, but with the additional Beyonwiz branding?
https://assets.kogan.com/images/keshen/ ... 5ca916.jpg
It's associated pigtail antenna cable looks like this -

Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
This sounds like the media player dongle but the cables are:
1. one for power via a micro USB cable
2. an ethernet connection cable (if used)
3. a plugin cable for the IR sensor for remote control.
It also has a USB port for the keyboard if used.

Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
Thanks everyone. Grumpy Geoff you are right those two jpgs show what I'm referring to. So I should be able to pick these up in JC or similar?
Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
Mr Quade I'm sorry I said HDMI when I should have written USB
Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
The cable is likely to be similar to this one and the USB tuner is widely available but many of us prefer to use a
Blackie or Bluey because it has superior performance.

Re: Beyonwiz HDMI Mini Server
Unlikely.
Cheapest and quickest would be to check Gumtree for any Sony Playstation PS3 PlayTV dual tuners.
There appears to be not much cheap stuff on offer there at the moment.
Next is eBay. Examples -
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124685206747
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/193089018245
You'll need an antenna cable.
The Sony PlayTV units are dual tuners - so this will add 2 tuners to your U4 and take it to a 5-tuner unit.
Otherwise, buy a Rafael Micro/Realtek tuner from eBay.
It must have the Rafael Micro R820T, R820T2, or R828D tuner chip (not a Fitipower FC0012 or Elonics E4000 tuner chip).
I bought one of these a little while ago - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/133545456110
$23.55, took 18 days from China.
Plus buy a pigtail cable, IEC/PAL female at one end and micro-MCX male at the other.
