WIZTV and Foxtel GO

Post by ivan_ward » Wed Jan 23, 2019 20:54

Hi, There was some confusion during the release of the WIZTV dongle over the use of Foxtel GO and Foxtel Now.
The consensus was that Foxtel Now should have been in the release notes.
Is there any plans to accept Foxtel GO in the compatible apps for WIZTV?

I have a U4 running the latest software (20180417)with a WIZTV dongle that successfully downloaded the Foxtel GO app.
The sign in process worked OK, but instead of a home page all that was shown was the simple FOXTEL icon.

The same process using an iPad and Chromecast works fine.

+1. I left feedback for Foxtel that it's broken but not expecting to hear from them.

I suspect the dongle is locked to a version of android which is not supported.

I cant find the android version in the WIZTV 'About' section, just the Android Security Patch level dated Aug 1st 2016.
Foxtel GO gives the following information:-
The following devices are supported by Foxtel GO:
· iOS: Devices with iOS 9.3.5 or above
· Android: Devices with Android 5 and above
· PC: Chrome browsers
· Mac: Safari and Chrome browsers

Do you know the version of Android used on the WIZTV.

WizHQ stated it runs Android 6 Marshmallow in the pre-release discussion.

Version 6.0.1 is what mine lists under 'Setup > Device > About Info > Version'.

I thought that version number was for the whole dongle build as the 'Build' number also includes the 6.0.1 number:-
Build = p212_8723bs-userdebug 6.0.1 MHC19J 20161208.

You could be right. But I thought it would have been strange to not display the Android version somewhere on an Android device, & that would be the logical place to list it.

Android 6.0.1 was released on 5-Oct-2015, so it is fairly old.

This is the post that Paul mentioned. So Android version 6.0.1 makes sense.
