Netflix unable to be updated and pause/play with other apps

I've just received my WIZTV smart dongle and have to say it has been a bit of a challenge to work out as the language was definitely not English! Anyhow I figured that out through someone else's post on this forum and have set up a few apps.

Firstly, Netflix won't play as it needs to be updated and it says my device won't accept the update. I checked and it checked for updates when installed.

Secondly, I watched a show on iview but was unable to figure out how to pause etc when someone knocked on the door. While the show aired perfectly, I need to be able to pause on occasion.

More instructional videos or instructions would help also. Thanks for any help that can be given.

I use Stan so can't help with Netflix but iView seems straight forward. I note that the Netflix update reports it is not compatible with the WizTV device.

IView: With a video playing, press OK twice to pause or once to restart. Works with the keyboard and the remote.

Just out of curiosity as I'm thinking of getting a U4 in the New Year, how does Netflix work on the U4 etc is it via a plugin and hence a screen on the BW? At the present time my Chromecast is plugged into my A/V amp and I bring up Netflix on either my iPhone or iPad Pro. Very straight forward just select the program on the iPad and cast to Chromecast. On the iPad Pro there is a standard media player with pause and stop buttons etc.

This topic is about the WIZTV smart dongle not the U4 so essentially working on that independantly regardless of whether it is plugged into the U4 (via a splitter) or into your TV.

I'd stick with that setup. Sometimes I'll connect the Chromecast via a splitter to the U4 HDMI in when I want to record something but otherwise, no - the U4 does not directly handle apps like Stan and Netflix or the catchup services.

That's disppointing about Netflix. Hopefully the next update will make it compatible. I will have to keep an eye out for it.

Talk to Beyonwiz. Their Web page for the dongle says "Browse and download thousands of apps from Google Play such as Netflix, Stan, Youtube, Kodi, Plex and all the catchup TV services."

I think that there's an implication that when you download them they should actually work.

Trial and error mostly.

The other biggy is use a mini keyboard and remember that the left top button when held enables you to use the pad to scroll the screen up and down.

Thanks for the clarification Gully and Paul_oz53. I'll stick with Chromecast and pop it into the U4 when I get one if I need to record.
