WIZTV Dongle problem

Post by Sandy B » Wed Nov 14, 2018 16:42

I recently purchased a WIZTV Dongle and I am having some problems as detailed below:

NETFLIX (Designated Survivor as example)
I am able to enter the Designated screen, actual it is a split screen with the right hand side showing the episodes ( 1 - 9 ), however there are more than 9 episodes and can not find a way to scroll down/page down. I am able to change the Season and find information about the episodes but not cannot access episodes after #9.

iView
When I click on a particular program it goes to a main screen for the program, but I can not find any way to play the program.

I have no problem watching Netflix via my LG smart TV, and had not problem watching iView. However I can no longer access iView from the TV as LG/ABC not longer supper my "old" smart TV.

The Dongle is connected to the modem via cable and to my T4 HDMI (with splitter) but assume it will use WiFi if it pleases.

Hoping somebody can help.

I've never used the Netflix app on the Beyonwiz dongle (don't have a Netflix account), but I found the SBS OnDemand app impossible to use effectively without the mini-keyboard (and especially its mousepad).

I see that the mini-keyboard can be bought with the dongle for only $1 more, but I don't think the dongle should be sold without the mini-keyboard, or at least there should be some warning that some apps can't be used effectively without mouse input.

The dongle will need to be configured to use WiFi: it will at least need the access password for your home WiFi. It's unlikely to "just use it".

The Dongle came equipped with the mini-keyboard, and I have being using it with the problems as detailed.

Strange that the Netflix App comes pre-installed and that it does not work. If there is no solution to this simple problem, one has to ask what is the purpose of purchasing this unit.

Have you tried contacting Beyonwiz support?

For scrolling, have you tried the two-fingered gesture (no, not that one) for scrolling that's suggested on the keyboard mousepat?

Can't help with Netflix either but I agree that scrolling in any of the apps can be torturous at times. I have Stan and it can be very slow to let you scroll down the lists of seasons and episodes. YouTube seems mostly OK and I have got Kodi to kinda work sometimes but it doesn't play well with Windows. I'll experiment some more with iView but I have had successes with ABC, SBS and Ten to date. I dropped Seven and Nine though - too many ads!

Limited success with the two figure solution, managed to do it once to episode 16, there are 21. I was unable to go past 16 when I got there, and was unable to repeat it after several attempt.

Makes one give the "real" two figure salute.

I assume the best way to contact Beyonwiz is via the "Contact Us" in this screen.

I don't have access to one with a keyboard tonight but from memory holding the top trigger button grabs the screen and when you swipe your finger up and down it moves the screen up and down.

Yep, holding the top left button while swiping the touch pad works well with iview & Stan to scroll up and down pages.

Yes it would really help if even some very basic information about the unit and it's operation was provided even if if it is only online.

After successfully watching Netflix for a few days, I have found that Netflix has requested me to sign in again, but I find that I am unable to do so despite repeated tries, including complete power downs and restarting. Netflix just says wrong user or password.

I have entered the settings and find that most of the options are written with in Chinese, for example;

settings>more settings, the only thing I see is WiFi, Google and Ehernet, while everything else is in Chinese.

1. Is this normal
2. How do I revert it back to all English.
3. I suspect that this could be causing my Netflick sign in problem,

Hoping somebody can help.

Actually, more likely Korean - mine did something similar a while back. Had to go into settings and reset it to English.

Go to Settings icon on RHS bottom of top set of icons. Select.
Row 2, item 2 Circle with latitude and longitude arcs. Select.
Select item 1 US English or 11 for Australian.
Return.

Many thanks for your quick reply, I was easily able to revert to English.

I am still having problems logging in into Netflix, I had the same problem logging in the first time a few days ago, after a few hours for some unknown reason it logged in. I can't understand why as the smart TV logged in at the first attempt.

I have to keep trying.

I'm not sure what leads you to that conclusion. Given the pedigree of the device, I would certainly expect Chinese to be more likely that English and English to be more likely than Korean.

Because my HK Chinese friend said it wasn't Chinese as he knew it but he thought it was possibly Korean.

Regardless, it was unexpected and random but it hasn't recurred!

Korean looks very different to Chinese, similar to how Russian looks very different to English. If you are familiar with one, you can probably correctly identify the other. If the person who is versed in Chinese positively identified the text as Korean, I'd tend to believe them too.

Still, it's very puzzling that the language would reset to Korean of all languages. The WizTV boxes are Chinese and as far as I know, there isn't a Korean connection at all.

Strange as this may sound I am having absolutely no luck signing into Netflix. in desperation thinking that I may have user name or password wrong I tried logging in via my computer, and presto logged on first attempt.

Very frustrated boy here.

No idea why it would either. I'm inclined to think it was just a random event. May have something to do with where it sits in the list.

No matter, the effect is the same if it were Japanese, Chinese, Arabic or Thai - completely indecipherable!

Well after 8 hours of trying and untold number of attempts I have finally logged back into Netflix. After a clearing of data and a clearing cache via the settings, I managed to log in at the first attempt.

Finally, happy again.
