Watching T4's content on another TV

Post by hjfoster79 » Sun Sep 23, 2018 14:44

I'm after an Android HDMI device to watch recorded content that is sitting on my T4's hard drive on another TV. Is that what the WIZTV Smart Dongle can be used for? Or is there something else that is better suited?

Thanks,
Hayden.

That's not primarily what the WizTV is for, but it could do that job of you want it to.

The T2 is an excellent box for playing recordings on a second TV, and it can even be configured to stream live tv from the T4 to the second location if that lacks an antenna outlet. The benefit of a T2 is that it can also read all of the program information and will properly format the recording name.

Any box that can read .ts container media files over DLNA or a SMB (Windows style) network share can be used as a remote player for recordings.

I'll keep that in mind about the T2. I don't know that I can justify the additional $200 when it sounds like the Smart Dongle will do what I need though. Thanks for responding so quickly!

Cheers,
Hayden.

My WizTV dongle can see and play files on the T4 via KODI, which is pre-installed.

However, overall I am not happy with KODI on the dongle. I gave up trying to get any of its other features working. Playing T4 files is about all I have working and it's not a priority for me.
