See an update has been released on the Apple App Store. Is the app now being progressed again with other new features?

The app page for the Android version just says that it's an update to add the U4 and update the picons.

So no really new functionality.

It's in the Google store. The previous version was removed and a new version added, so you won't get an auto update. You need to uninstall and reinstall.

Unfortunately the new version is not showing up in my view of the Play Store! :(

Thank you for the heads up.

Hi,

I just found the new version. It is on the play.google.com web based app store but not in the phone based App Store.

I installed the new version. Unfortunately a number of the new picons are white on white and hence ineffective. It doesn't look like this new version was tested before it was released.

Regards,
Ian.

Strange. I installed it straight from the play store app on my phone. I didn't need to visit the web store.

I also noticed that a couple of the icons were a bit hard to see. The ABC News logo was particularly hard to see and the Nine HD logo had a partially visible HD. The VICELAND HD logo was missing in action.

I'm fairly sure it would have been actually tested..... just not tested thoroughly enough and the icon visibility would have simply been missed/overlooked ;). Hopefully this recent update means that there may be some more active development in the near future :)

It sounds like the picons are just taken from the Beyonwiz picon set and displayed against a white background. They're not designed for that.

I have a full set of white-background picons that I'm happy to share with Beyonwiz.

I just checked the new icon set (for Canberra) in the Android app. The problem is almost certainly that the standard Beyonwiz picon set, which are masked picons intended for use on a dark background, are displayed on a light (but not white) background. It is possible to see the Viceland/Viceland HD picons and the "HD" of the WIN HD picons, but they certainly don't have the contrast they should have.

I had to install the Android version manually (from my phone's Play Store, and then uninstall the old 1.6 version. That cleared all my settings. Fortunately, there weren't many. I don't know why the Android version didn't just update.

In my instance, its not that Viceland HD is not visible. The icon is missing altogether.....I just see the generic black text with no icon.

Curious. I did qualify what I said as being for Canberra. Do you get the Viceland HD picon displayed properly on your Beyonwiz (in recent beta firmware like 20171029)? If you don't, it's probably my error; if you do, it looks like it might be a problem in adapting the Beyonwiz picon set to the app.

The icon shows fine in the Wiz GUI and web interface.

I'm sure it was just an oversight, limited to the Perth region and can be fixed later. In fact I'm probably in a better position because I can actually see the channel name! ;)

Nah, not a Perth issue as I've got it on my Nexus 7, if you squint you can see the white text -

Where the icon is, I just have "Viceland" with the little red "HD" indication, so my icon is definitely missing, not just white on white as you are showing.

Quite strange! Both my phone and tablet show the same thing. I wonder if I have old scan data in my bouquets that is causing this. Further investigation required!

Ok, interesting.

The Viceland HD icon appears when viewing my Terrestrial TC (LCN) bouquet in the WizOS Android app, but doesn't appear in my Favourites bouquet.
I checked on my T2, T3, and T4 and all show the same behaviour. At no point have I carried over an old bouquet from a previous firmware version settings nor copied bouquets between T2, T3, or T4.

I'm guessing that something in the Viceland HD channel ID has changed since I set up my Favourites bouquet following the release of the last beta, but I still find it very odd!

It might be the service type field. Try removing and re-adding the Viceland HD entry in your Favourites.

Ahh wait. I know what it is now.

I removed the entry and re-added it, and promptly renamed it from SBS VICELAND HD to VICELAND HD. I do that purely for cosmetic reasons in the EPG.

It looks like the WizOS app matches the icon to the service name, and not the ID.

That explains why some of my picons are also missing. I rename all duplicated channels so I can tell which is which. The renamed duplicates have all lost their icons.

Are you still sure that this new version was properly tested? (I think not.)

Ian.

I never said *properly* tested did I? ;)

And besides, this would have been in the previous versions as well. We'd just missed it since so many other icons were also missing.
