Recording pre/post padding.

Post by Gerhardp1 » Mon Feb 22, 2016 14:33

I have set my T3 to record 5 minutes before and 20 minutes past the epg times.

When setting recordings via the epg this works fine.

When setting recordings via the Android app, there is no padding.

Can this be fixed?

Thanks, Gerhard.

Is that setting user-entered times? If so, that's consistent with the T series UI where user-entered timer tomes aren't padded.

No.

When I use the epg, I press the record button and then enter timer. This picks up the padding settings.

When I use the Android app, I go to the epg and press the record button. This does not pick up the padding settings.

I just confirmed it; recordings set from the Android app don't have padding added.

You'll need to contact Beyonwiz support about it, because, unlike the main firmware, the Android and iOS apps aren't Open Source.

Although, in the future, timers could be padded by default. That would work around the lack of access to the app source code.

It'd mean changing the OpenWiz server side code, though.

You mean OpenWebif HTTP API?

I was thinking at a more fundamental level. All timers could have the "default" padding applied, unless you explicitly supply an alternative.

i.e. if you create a timer with no padding argument or pass None, then add default padding. To create a timer with no padding, pass (0, 0) as the padding argument. OpenWebif can be left alone.

Guys it's great to hear you working out possibilities to get around the issue.

I have just ditched Icetv as I don't feel it is as accurate as before the kerfuffle, so would really appreciate being able to set padded timers using the Android app.

I doubt any users would be annoyed with a default padding, as skipping a leader is no different to skipping ads. A 20 minute trailer shouldn't annoy anyone either - not many would overfill their drive as a result of this.

Hi,

You could access the BW via a browser, at least until the app is changed.

Thanks for that tip.

The padding is invoked that way.

I used my 10 inch tablet to test, which was OK as it's a 2560 resolution screen, but on my phone it's not the best to use when away from home.

Default padding or a cure for the Android app would be my favoured solution.

Just received this from Bw support. Not sure how fast they are with such things.

Hi Gerhard,
Looks like a bug as we are getting the same here, we will add it to the bug list investigate.

Just checked on the last update to the Android app - 6 months ago. Not encouraging for a reasonable timeframe solution.

Pretty please for a firmware solution ☺
