Simple USB or HDMI DVD Player ...

for the T4 recorders. Presently using the old S1 DVD player but would like something smaller and removable for the T4 when not in use.

Is there such a DVD player?

Cheers, ad

There is some discussion on that already in the hardware forum here.

In short, the T4 can take a USB DVD drive, but it is not very user-friendly.
IMHO, you are better off with a dedicated player, or ripping your disks with something like MakeMKV.

That being said, I haven't re-tested the DVD playback situation using the latest alpha firmware (17.5 series), so things may have improved. I will have a look tonight.

I made a followup post to the linked thread regarding some DVD drive testing that I have done on the latest 17.5 alpha firmware.

It went better than I remembered, but is still a bit clunky.
