IceTV Certificate Expiry

Post by Brainz » Sun Jan 09, 2022 12:10

The web based guide is coming up with this error today.

"Websites prove their identity via certificates, which are valid for a set time period. The certificate for www.icetv.com.au expired on 09/01/2022.
Error code: SEC_ERROR_EXPIRED_CERTIFICATE"

I am also getting a message about needing a network connection to download the guide on my android app. Just to be sure I restarted phone. Still nothing!

When the website does work I can see I am paid up until next month. Why does this happen when I least want it!

Finally got onto the IceTV forum and saw Daniel's response about the fix. Waiting!

Certificates are used by HTTPS (and other secure communications channels) to ensure that you're actually talking to the server you think you're talking to. This prevents man-in-the-middle attacks against the key exchange used to establish the encryption key for the connection.

Certificates have a limited lifetime and the IceTV certificate expired at 23:59:59 UTC on 9/1/2022 (i.e. today at 10:59:59 AEST).

Most browsers will allow you to continue with a HTTPS connection when the certificate is invalid (e.g. expired, or signed by an unknown authority).

IceTV is now using a certificate valid until Feb 2023.
