Ice Tv

Post by Kevin111 » Tue May 29, 2018 20:35

When using the ice tv guide and I click on a program on another channel, instated of going to the programme the screen goes blank, the only way to restore to a picture is to press the previous button on the remote. This only seems to have happened since the Beyonwiz U4 firmware update. Have tried a channel re scan, firmware update and system rest to no avail. Beyonwiz say is an ice tv problem, ice tv say it's a beyonwiz issue. Any ideas how to fix this

Hi Kevin and welcome.

It would be helpful if you could post the exact version of firmware you are using and a clear list of steps that you do so others can see if the same thing happens. Best way to understand the problem.

Hi Kevin111,

Welcome to the forum.

If I understand what you're saying, you're in the EPG and select a program entry to change channel / zap service, then press OK to zap? The EPG then exits and you then only get a blank display - no picture?
If so, when in this situation can you please press the ABOUT button near the bottom of the remote (next to SETUP). Then select Service>>OK. What does that 'Service Information' screen report please?

On the service information screen the display says, name: N/A, all the rest of the fields have a nothing, then service reference: N/A

Which bouquet are you selecting a service from? Favourites?

Try selecting a service from the Terrestrial TV or Last Scanned bouquets and see what happens.

Do you still have the same issue changing services using the CH+/- button?

Do you still have the same issue changing services via the FAV button (services/channel selection list) and then selecting a new service - (i) from the same broadcaster, and (ii) a different broadcaster?
What bouquet name shows at the right-hand end of the very top line when you bring up that FAV 'channel selection' list?

How did you do the services scan - Location or Manual scan? If manual scan, did you scan each broadcast network?

If I bring up favorites, then press all I can change channels by clicking on the station. Can't read the top right of the screen as everything that I bring up from the beyonwiz menu Doesn't fit my screen properly for some reason

Your TV is over scanning - set it to screen fit, dot-by-dot, 1:1 pixels, per-pixel, just scan, just fit, whatever the option is called.

Failing that, set the OSD position - SETUP>>AV setup>>OSD position.

Have you disabled MENU>Setup>TV>Channel selection>Enable multiple bouquets?

Have you made any other changes to the settings in MENU>Setup>TV>Channel selection, in MENU>Setup>TV>EPG settings (in particular have you enabled EPG cache reload there), or in the EPG display settings, EPG, MENU?

A bouquet is essentially a list of services (TV or Radio Channels).
It's mostly European terminology and is sort-of equivalent to what we call a "Favourites List".

The default setting is to have Multiple Bouquets enabled. That means that you can view the "Terrestrial TV (LCN)", Last Scanned, and Favourites bouquets, and any other bouquets that you should choose to create yourself. Disabling multiple bouquets used to expose a lot of system bugs and errors, since I am guessing that the Enigma2 software that the Beyonwiz T and U series use was never intended to be locked down to a single bouquet (or at least it was never a popular feature).

prl has put a lot of effort in over the last few years into fixing a lot of those bugs, but even still, if multiple bouquets are disabled, you can end up with some .... interesting behaviour.
I don't think I have ever heard of it sending you to a blank service when changing channels like you were seeing though.

That was mostly fixing infinite loops and crashes when a service was searched for in a bouquet, but couldn't be found.

Kevin111's issue seems to happen when you don't have any services in the Favourites bouquet and you disable MENU>Setup>TV>Channel selection>Enable multiple bouquets.

Once I got into the "no video" state after disabling Enable multiple bouquets and selecting a channel via the EPG, there weren't any channels in either the EPG or the FAV channels list. That bit, at least, makes sense, because disabling Enable multiple bouquets forces your bouquet choice to the Favourites bouquet. Immediately after I switched off Enable multiple bouquets, FAV and EPG displayed the Terrestrial TV LCN bouquet that I'd previously had selected. Strangely, switching channels using FAV rather than the EPG after the disable didn't switch to the Favourites bouquet.

Getting the right bouquet selected after Enable multiple bouquets is disabled has always been a bit hokey.

Perhaps that's the bit I didn't understand then.

If the Wiz was locked to the favorites bouquet which was empty, then how do you select a service/event from the EPG as he described? Wouldn't the EPG simply show as being devoid of services it any other content?

You don't switch to the fixed bouquet untio you choose a channel.
