No IceTV plugin.

Post by muzza » Sat Dec 16, 2017 09:16

Trying to install IceTV on my T2 but it ain't nowhere to be found.

If I remember correctly, when I installed it on the ex's T4, it was in the plugins section of the main menu.

Thanks in advance.

It comes pre-installed with the latest firmware.
If you don't already see the IceTV item in the main setup menu (in the leftmost column), then your firmware installation may have gone wrong.
You can try giving the T2 a reboot, and if the IceTV menu entry isn't there, then I'd advise you to install the latest 17.5 series firmware from USB.

Thanks MrQuade. Can you confirm that I am, in fact, looking in the right place? It should show up in the PlugIns menu?

Yes, it should be there but which firmware version are you using, and have you rebooted after installing/updating?
Cheers

No, I mean the main menu. When you press MENU from live TV you will see the main menu. The leftmost column contains shortcuts to a variety of installed plugins.

Well, you probably meant "both". :) If it's installed, the IceTV plugin shows up in both the left-hand column of the main menu (MENU from live TV) and in the Plugins screen (either PLUGIN or MENU>Plugins from live TV).

I can't find what version of Firmware my T2 is running.

In the 'Information/About' page, it says "Last Upgrade: 2016-08-18" and "Drivers: 2016-04-05". Nothing about 'firmware'.

When I go into 'Setup/Software manager/Check for updates now', it says "Nothing to upgrade".

[EDIT:] I just found the firmware page. Seems it needs to be installed via USB. Downloading the firmware update as I type.

That's an old series of firmware. That's probably 16.1, you'll see reference to 16.1 in that info screen most likely.

The online update will not upgrade you from one series to the next. The current series is 17.5.

My advice would be to perform a USB update to the latest 17.5 series beta firmware. This will bring you completely up to date, but unfortunately it will require you to enter all of your settings and timers from scratch again.

OK. USB upgrade done. IceTV epg now showing.

I had to work out how to adjust it to fit it to the screen tho'. It made the epg too big for the screen. Fixed now.

I just had another look in the 'About' screen and it's still showing 16.1 as the "image". I'm still not sure how to determine what firmware is installed...

I know it's the most recent as I just installed it, but how do you find out the installed firmware number?

You should install the 17.5 series firmware instead. You can find it in the beta forum here:
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=12075

The version is the "Version" and "Build" numbers that you see in the Wiz information screen.

As for the screen fit, you should adjust the setting on your TV to disable overscan and not adjust the GUI size in your Wiz. You will end up with a better picture quality of your TV is set to "Just scan" or dot-by-dot mode. Only use the Wiz's scaling option of you TV lacks such a setting.
