PlexDVR and ICETV

Post by rossi2000 » Thu Jun 22, 2017 00:27

Good afternoon all

I have noticed that ICETV has an XML that is very good to be used with PlexDVR.

is there any chance to get a sample of the XML please, so that we can try to create our own for tv in UK.

The Beyonwiz fork of enigma2 has improvements for EPG importing and an IceTV plugin that uses the JSON API.

See here Plugins/SystemPlugins/IceTV

No need to mess with XML ;-)

I have attached a cut-down sample of the Ice XML. It only contains 3 events, instead of the entire week's worth. (Probably not a good idea to publish all the Ice data without permission).

IceTV have published API documents, but I don't think they are all that complete.

See:
http://developer.icetv.com.au/
http://developer.icetv.com.au/legacy/Home.html

The first one is supposed to replace the second, but the first is missing a lot of information in the second.

I'd assumed that he was more interested in the interface to Plex than the interface to the regular IceTV database. Looking to implement their own EPG service that can feed data into PlexDVR (in Plex digestible format)

Mind you, I'd be approaching Plex directly for that information if that were the case. I'd imagine that IceTV has already done that if they are able to produce their own interface.

It still tells you about the IceTV Python and XML formats, the form and intention of the fields and how the data is intended to be used.

Ok, fair enough. I'd mistakenly assumed that Ice had implemented a unique XML format that was Plex-digestable rather than Plex having implemented Ice-compatibility.

I am curious as to the ultimate objective though :) Is rossi2000 looking to have an enigma2 unit pretend to be a HDHomerun PVR so that it can act as a backend to PlexDVR, or is this just an exercise to set up a similar EPG for the UK market.

I have no idea what rossi2000's intentions are, but I do know that when trying to work out how the IceTV API works, every bit of information is useful.

Hi All,

The intention is to have an Enigma2 box act as a Plex back end source driver for PlexPVR. I believe the plugin is already is written but is currently being tested and refined. I suspect the interest in IceTV is to have a complete implementation of the EPG sources for PlexPVR.

Rossi is one of the OpenViX developers so this plugin will run on OpenViX and should be portable to the Beyonwiz. :)

Ian.

the plugin is already released guys
which allows us to interface E2 tuners with PlexDVR, it should work with Beyonwiz if you merged in the new Duration code to streamserver.cpp from ViX.

I currently have an Ultimo4K with a cable FBC tuner, and a sat FBC tuner, giving me a total of 16tuners in PlexDVR.

Andyblac wrote the plugin which does emulate the Homerun Device.

code for plugin is here:- https://github.com/OpenViX/PlexDVRAPI

with some discussion on Plex forums:- https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/27400 ... etv#latest

we did actually work with Plex to get full functionality going.

Gracenote EPG what Plex DVR uses can be bit flakey sometimes, so we wanted to try and use the EPG we already have on our boxes and get that into Plex.

ICETv already provide an XML that is suitable for PlexDVR for Aussie users and they rate it very well, I just wanted to see a sample of that to see what we have to work too, to get as much info into Plex as possible etc for us UK users.

Hi

it works very well, it is Cable only though

manufacturers I believe are waiting for new terrestrial fbc chips to appear from Broadcom.

Vu+, Gigablue and Spycat(Xcore) I think currently use FBC tuners.

I am trying out the PlexDVR plugin. When I run the plugin, it warms me that I have a single tuner box which is not the case.

On the subsequent screen the number of tuners is correctly identified as 4.

Debug logs are available on the Beyonwiz (disabled by default, enable through Open WebIf), and IIRC MrQuade normally runs with them enabled :)

Yep, is all in and configured and my Plex server connects successfully.

I haven't had a chance to record anything yet as I haven't got any writeable libraries configured in Plex yet.

Hi,

It looks like this might be the reason to purchase a Plex Pass.

Are there any coupons or ways to get a Plex Lifetime Pass for the least dollars? The best I have seen is $159 but I hear there may be ways to get it for about $100. Anyone have any suggestions.

Ian.

Btw, thanks for that.

One other thing. The T4 is not automatically detected when you have the Plex server scan the network for PVRs. It requires you to manually enter the PVR's IP and port into Plex.

Is there anything that can be done to have the PlexPVR plugin listen on a standard port so that Plex server can just find it automatically?

I have two Plex servers and a range of various clients. I would love to try Plex Pass and PlexDVR out.

Can I delay activation until my T4 comes back from repair?

By the way I have an OverlayHD skin update that covers the Enigma2 PlexDVR plugin. ;) I will publish it as soon as I can find some time.

I have one bug report/request to make. The plugin.png that comes with the PlexDRV plugin is 150x60 pixels but the standard plugin logo image is 100x40 pixels. On 1280x720 skins the PlexPVR logo is compressed to fit and looses some of its detail in the re-scale. It doesn't look its best. Can the logo be resized to the standard 100x40 so that it looks okay on 720 skins. It should stretch and look equally good on 1080 skins.

Regards,
Ian.

Hi All,

For those running the alpha and using OverlayHD I have some updates to Overlay HD that you may like to test. If there are no objections I will commit the changes in the next OverlayHD build.

Note that the fixed plugin image will need to be adopted by OpenViX as this is not actually part of the skin. It is part of the plugin.

Ian.

Hi,

Andy has already fixed the plugin to support both standard and FHD skin images. Any update to the plugin will replace my patched image with the corrected official image.

@Rossi: I would suggest Andy add a border coloured single pixel in every corner of the image to soften the edges of the image and better match the design of the other plugin images. Have a look at my sample above for an example of what I mean.

Ian.

which version of plex pass server version are you using? it must be 1.7.3+
the plugin is correctly broadcasting on the right port it seems as per your log:-

It looks like the latest version of PlexDVR is available for the latest firmware now. You no longer get the tuner error when starting the plugin :)

I have also tested streaming live TV from the T4 to a Plex server running on CentOS in a VM to a Plex client running on iOS :)

Yes indeed, good work! :)

It's quite funny actually. For something that just popped up on us out of the blue, this could be a big ticket feature of the new firmware :)

Fairly big news for a small Australian STB to support PlexDVR when the only listed officially supported STB is the HD Homerun :).

It is funny / odd that a number of the Plex developers use Enigma2 as a source for PlexDVR yet Enigma2 isn't officially acknowledged as a supported device. :?: :?

Ian.

So, is there any documentation anywhere on how to use this on our T4? I'm running a Plex server on WS2012 R2 and this would be a great addition.

Thanks

Install the plexdvrapi plugin from the "systemplugins" section of the plugin download manager (MENU->Setup->Plugins->Download plugins)
Restart the GUI
Run the plugin (from MENU under the left hand side "Plugins" column) and follow the instructions.
Then set up PlexDVR on your server:

Hey,
I've been looking into using my T3 to stream to Plex via the IPTV channel with no such luck.
I came across this and it sounds perfect to use my T3 instead of purchasing a HDHomerun for use with Plex but I can't seem to find the PlexDVRAPI plugin from my T3 - is it only compatible with the T4?
IS there a way to manually install it using the ZIP from GitHub?

Thanks.

You need to be running the latest beta version of firmware (soon to be official) to be able to install the PlexDVR plugin.
The latest beta can be found here if you want to get a jump start before the official release.
Note that the beta and subsequent next official version of firmware is incompatible with your previous settings backups, so you need to set up from scratch.

The PlexDVR plugin is under the "System" section, and not "Extensions" where you may be expecting it.

Also, in regards to IceTV. I have so far been completely unsuccessful in getting PlexDVR to recognise my IceTV subscription for the EPG. I am instead just using the standard EPG that PlexTV offers for Australia. If you have success with IceTV, you can report back and tell me where I was going wrong :).

Thanks for the really quick reply. I was worried that I had missed out by not waiting for the T4. I know what I'm doing for the next few hours... :D
Will the settings saved with the beta carry over to the next official? Not a big drama, not too much customisation.

Yes, the settings backup from the current beta will work with the next official version.

Hi MrQuade.
Have you followed the steps here: https://www.icetv.com.au/plex

They've been successful for me.

I have attempted those steps several times and it always times out for me.

It makes the initial connection ok, but breaks when attempting to perform the channel mappings.

Strange....

Hi,
Has anyone managed to delete the tuner as per icetv instructions?
It states you have to delete any previous tuners, but no delete option comes up.
I actually have my T4 running ok with Plex DVR, but when installing, I accidentally chose my favourite channels, not the full channel list, so I want to delete current setup and start again.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Jo.

It says you have to delete any previous DVRs.

Do you not have this delete option (circled in red) in the PlexDVR settings?

No, that doesn't appear at all.
Weird.
I have found a workaround though by going into plugin on T4 and choosing all channels on that.
It may be that the delete option doesn't show as I have to manually add my pvrs ip, it doesn't find anything when scanning, just hangs.
