Cannot logon to ICE TV

Post by gawaterman » Mon Apr 17, 2017 16:11

After playing around with the latest T3 firmware and setting everything all up again, when I turn on the ICE TV plugin I get no information on the ICE TV EPG screen.
If I try to log-in, I get an error message, and when I look at the logs get a whole lot of info ending in "Region was missing from Request"
What does that mean and how do I fix it.
I can log in to my account on-line from my PC ok, but not from the T3.

If you've installed the new 20170310 firmware and followed the instructions to re-do your settings manually rather than using a settings backup, then you'll probably need to go through the IceTV setup wizard. Set up as an "Existing or trial user". That should retrieve your region setting from IceTV and stash it in the Beyonwiz's settings, amongst other things.

As posted on Ice TV forum.

After the last firmware upgrade (today) I didn't use the saved setup and did a new Ice TV install, but when I got to the Wizard and try to login as a existing user , that's when I get this error message.
Says "Login Failure:406 Client error:not acceptable for url:blah blah blahsome hyrogliphics, then :"error code10 Region was missing from Request"
I am connected to internet as I can see my PC and stream Youtube

Your first post said login. Now you're talking about the wizard. So login or setup wizard?

Both come back with the same fault log.

Did the initial setup wizard work properly when you first booted the Wiz after upgrading firmware?

That is, did it properly select a region and perform the initial tuner scan correctly?

Fixed it.
My error was that when I entered my email address while doing the wizard, I used the .net that's on the keyboard, not realizing that it already had the dot there, and I added another dot in front of it. Must have looked at that dozens of times and not seen the 2 ..'s in there. So alls good now.

Good to hear. I just tested doing the setup wizard on a factory-reset T4 and it all worked cleanly.

After a factory reset or USB upgrade, the IceTV login screen can't work, since it doesn't have the email address configured and it doesn't let you enter one.

Just this morning, I find that I am unable to retrieve EPG and timers from Ice.

Thought it was coincident with my upgrading via the USB update released last night.
I have since regress to the previous version 20170310. Same problem.
There is an entry on IceTV, where another user is also having the same problem.

The log shows that is it timing out when trying to long into api.icetv.com.au.

Pinging api.icetv.com.au also doesn't work, so I suspect it is just their servers are down at the moment.

Does their server normally respond to a ping?

I was having this problem yesterday, too. It seems to be intermittent.

Unfortunately, that's not really indicative of anything. I can't ping or traceroute to any of icetv.com.au, http://www.icetv.com.au, api.icetv.com.au (which are all the same IP addresses) or forum.icetv.com.au, even though the fourm and the IceTV Web pages work just fine.

I suspect that the ping and traceroute results indicate nothing more than the IceTV servers not responding to or sending ICMP packets. Which is a little unfriendly, but not uncommon.

Apparently not.

Here's what I've had this morning on my test T4:
11:34 Can not retrieve channel map
11:49 Can not retrieve channel map
12:04 Can not download EPG, Can not download timers (but apparently got the channel map)
12:19 Success
12:20 (manual) Can not retrieve channel map

I also had "502 Server Error: Bad gateway for URL: http://api.ice.com.au/shows/... a couple of times yesterday.

Daniel Hall at IceTV has posted on the IceTV forum that the problem has been fixed. The fix has been confirmed there by me and srto2.
