Can't get a response from IceTV - Can't login new T4

The new T4 arrived two days ago but I can't get it to login to IceTV.

I had 5 devices so, under my account, I deleted one - the Windows Media Centre PC in My Recorders. Added the T4.

On the PC, uninstalled the WMC software. On the T4, installed the plugin and entered the login details. Immediate fail - too many devices - five is the maximum. Rebooting, reinstalling the plugin have no effect.

Tried leaving a support request over 24 hours ago but it has got no response. I have set up autotimers instead as a stop gap measure. But, if I pay for a service I generally like but now can't use - well to say I am frustrated is an understatement. :x

Does anyone know what else I need to do to get it to work please? I have also posted a similar message on IceTV and attempted to follow-up the open support request.

Delete the existing T4 from your IceTV account, ensure you only have 4 devices listed.

You can then run through the IceTV plugin on your T4 and it will create the new T4 device in your account for you.

Yep, that fixed it! MrQuade, you should be paid by IceTV. :D

Pity they don't have much in the way of support staff these days. Dave is probably overloaded now. Over a day has past with no acknowledgement of the support request - not a good way to keep customers loyal.

Until I tried to setup IceTV on the T4 I didn't realise that it created a device automatically. Whilst waiting for my T4 to be delivered I thought I'd setup a new device "Beyonwiz T4" and copy all of my timers into it. So when setting up the T4 it ALSO setup a device called Beyonwiz T4, I didn't know which one to delete, tossed a coin and picked the right one!

Registering a device on the new IceTV server (the one used by the Beyonwiz T series and the Skippa) needs device-specific information to identify the device. I understand that that's the MAC address of the device's wired Ethernet. Registering the device from the device is the only way I know of that that information can be set by normal users.

The My Account>My Recorders page of the IceTV web pages could be a bit more helpful with this (it's probably hard for it to be less helpful ;)).

The IceTV T series setup instructions are pretty good, but you need to know that you need to read them first. :roll:

If the IceTV popup had a caution not to manually add the device I might have avoided the pain!
