Missing program names
Missing program names
Had a bit of an issue for the last few days (Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues) where IceTV recordings don't have any program names associated with them, they just show as One, 7Mate etc. (This is for programs waiting in the Timer list and also after they are recorded)
The EPG appears to show the correct program name and the description within the recording has the correct program info, so it's just the name that is wrong,
Saturday had a couple of recordings with names and a couple without, but none of the other three days are correct, then on Wednesday this week and beyond, things appear to be back to normal.
Just curious if there is an issue with the T4, IceTV, something in between?

Re: Missing program names
It can happen if a timer is set further info the future than your EPG extends. If that happens, the Wiz has no event to associate with the timer, so there is no name to add.
It can mean that either the Ice servers are not sending the EPG far enough in advance, out door some reason your EPG is not updating correctly.
You haven't enabled the "MENU->Setup->TV->EPG settings->EPG cache reload" setting by any chance? This should remain switched off.

Hi, no, EPG cache reload isn't enabled.
These are all series recordings set by IceTV such as MotoGP, F1, Have You Been Paying Attention, Highway Patrol etc so nothing that would seem too "out there".

Re: Missing program names
csutak40 has mentioned similar problems over in the IceTV forums, and there have been a couple of other people who've chimed in. Judy (csutak40) has posted some screenshots, and the missing names in timers don't seem to be for those in the distant future. The program name should come in the timer setting request from the IceTV server, so I'm not sure why there seem to have been these problems.

Re: Missing program names
I found another post on the Ice forums called Naming on T4 which sounded a similar problem, Dave from Ice suggested to restart the gui, perform an Ice EPG fetch, and restart the gui again, this fixed my missing timer issue. Not sure why they were missing in the first place, but it is a workaround of sorts.

T4 Failing to Name *Some* Recordings
Hi Folks,
My T4 has very recently developed a problem with naming recordings ... and it seems that it is starting with when the recordings are established.
When I look at the timer list (in this case, via the web browser), the T4 will have a number of shows to be recorded: some of these will be (correctly) named as follows:
Catalyst (ABC)
15.11.2016 - 15.11.2016 (60 min)
Others will be (incorrectly / incompletely?) named as:
(9HD Melbourne)
15.11.2016 - 15.11.2016 (90 min)
Timers of the second example then generate recordings which are labelled 20161115 2025 - 9HD Melbourne ... i.e. it lacks the name of the program that has been recorded.
These examples are littered through the recording list, and I don't really understand why...?
Has anyone seen this before..?
Technical Stuff:
T4 with a 2Gb Hard Drive (50% free): has the production latest firmware (i.e. it is not running Beta software)
IceTV
High Speed (100Mbps) Cable Internet
CAT6 cable (not wireless) connection to the LAN
Cheers,
David

Re: Missing program names
Browsing the epg last week, I noticed there were large chunks missing (ch 9 & 10) for fri-sat. Doing an icetv refresh only fixed up some of the missing entries.
Not a good look for Icetv... again.

Re: Missing program names
Have you tried doing a MY ACCOUNT>My Recorders>Device>Resend all recordings for this device, then doing a MENU>IceTV>Fetch EPG and update timers now?
Just doing "Fetch EPG and update timers now" doesn't do anything more than the normal timed updates do; it just does it immediately.
I'm still wondering whether the server problem that IceTV had last week (IceTV forum Issue with EPG and timers post Sunday) is still filtering through the system, or is perhaps still a problem in some regions. I haven't had any IceTV EPG or timer problems (Canberra region) since shortly after Dave at IceTV said that they'd "cleared the cache" in the server later the same day as the OP in that topic.
Anyway, perhaps these posts here should be going to the IceTV forum or IceTV support as well. The IceTV code in the official firmware hasn't changed since 17 October.

I'll give that a go as well - no harm in doing this as well as the re-fetch.prl wrote:Have you tried doing a MY ACCOUNT>My Recorders>Device>Resend all recordings for this device, then doing a MENU>IceTV>Fetch EPG and update timers now?

When I scrolled through the list of upcoming recordings, I found examples late into the schedule ... out at least 5 days in advance (from last night). I will check again when I go home, but given that the fix appears to have happened on November 9th, you'd have expected everything to be clear by now..?prl wrote:I'm still wondering whether the server problem that IceTV had last week (IceTV forum Issue with EPG and timers post Sunday) is still filtering through the system, or is perhaps still a problem in some regions. Re: Missing program names
All of my missing program names were within a 4 day period, being Saturday to Tuesday of this week, everything before and after that 4 day block is/was ok.
In your example above you mention the date of the 15/11/16, do you still have issues for timers beyond today?

Re: Missing program names
Hi tb123,
I scrolled down the list (I was using the iPad Web Client) and found plenty of other recordings with the problem towards the end of the list ... but they were all the recordings that had experienced the problem. These are likely the completed timers that haven't as yet been deleted, so no issue about those (now).
Cheers,
David
When I rechecked this evening, ABC News for today (16/11) & tomorrow (17/11) still had a problem - so only two shows. I've taken prl's steps and the problems been fixed, so that's donetb123 wrote:All of my missing program names were within a 4 day period, being Saturday to Tuesday of this week, everything before and after that 4 day block is/was ok.

Re: Missing program names
You can tell for sure from the entries in the timer list. If they've completed, their status will have a little green clock icon and the text "done!". The date and start/end times will also tell you the same thing, but less conveniently.mister_bimbo wrote:... These are likely the completed timers that haven't as yet been deleted, ...
By default, finished timers sort after all waiting and running timers, but you can change that in MENU>Setup>System>GUI settings>Position of finished timers in the timer list.

Yep. No telling off intended. I'd got out of sequence reading and responding and I though that tb123's post was a few posts after mister_bimbo's, so I wasn't sure who was being referred to, but as tb123 pointed out, it followed straight on from mister_bimbo's post, so there wasn't actually any ambiguity.
