Notification of failed timers (IceTV)

Post by gibster » Thu Nov 10, 2016 20:57

Hi.

I've been getting an e-mail message for 2 days now from IceTV of timer failures for a program on SBS and SBS HD. I'm using IceTV and I can look at the EPG listings for the program in question and see it listed for the 16th. I don't know what the reason for this is. Here is a copy of the failed timers message from IceTV.

Show Name: Tutankhamun
Channel: SBS
Time: 2016-11-16 20:40:00
Duration: 50
Device Label: Beyonwiz T4
Device Type: Beyonwiz T4
Message from recorder: No matching service

Any ideas?

Sounds like it isn't finding SBS on your T4.

So more information might help us direct you to the cause, like

Where are you located?
What region settings and LCN settings have you got on the IceTV website for your account settings?
When you view the timers on the IceTV website, what service is listed for them?
Have you deleted or edited the Terrestrial LCN bouquet? (the services listed in your EPG on your T4)
Other timers set for the same or overlapping times?
Other timers for SBS - are they working?
etc.

HI Gully.

Queensland Cairns

LCN 3 for SBS and LCN 30 for SBS HD on the IceTV settings

Service as listed above.

I haven't edited the service listings on the T4

There are 5 shows scheduled within that time frame but 2 of the shows are on ABC so I don't see why this should cause a conflict. I did delete the 1st ABC timers that starts before the SBS show to see if that will alleviate the situation.

It's kinda of funny, but Tutankhamun is the only show scheduled on SBS for the whole week.

After the deletion of the one timer, and resending Tutankhamun again, the timer still fails.

I just did a quick visual check, and apart from not being able to actually see what LCN SBS and SBS HD on the T4 are on, the channels are working fine. So they are there but obviously there is something going on between IceTV and the T4.

I verified that the LCN's are set correctly by looking at the numbers on my Topfield TRF 2400.

It's not a conflict, the Ice servers is asking your T4 to record on a channel that the T4 doesn't know anything about.

So either the Ice servers think there is a SBS service that doesn't exist, or your T4 is missing one that should exist.

It's quite likely to be a timer conflict. There's a bug in the current official code (20160817) that can cause a "No matching service" when the error is actually a timer conflict.

The error message bug is fixed in the current alpha firmware.

Yes, I wish you had posted a minute earlier ;)

Genuine conflict, or is this another mysterious one like the one that vader1111 is suffering from? (Also with two ABC timers)

The T series doesn't really use LCNs in the same way due to its Euro origins but you should still be able to see them when looking at the EPG using the Terrestrial LCN bouquet. When you llok at the EPG on the T4 what does it say in the top left of the screen?

Did you change the LCN settings on IceTV? When I look at mine, they are all set to "All". What are other services showing?

Maybe changing them to "All" and resending might fix it.

I was just reading that post, and was going to comment that it looks like my problem might be the same.

As I said earlier though, I have deleted the early ABC program and should have enough tuners for the remaining shows:

------

As an experiment I just deleted all the timers and will see what happens as it fills back in. I had the IceTV app on the T4 do a refresh of EPG and timers and now only 2 shows are listed for recording, but hopefully over time the rest will fill back in. Of the 2 shows Tutankhamun is showing now.

I'll give this a try to and see what happens if timers don't fill in by tomorrow.

It's all complicated a bit because of some problems on the IceTV server a couple of days ago that caused some false timer overlaps because the incorrect times were being sent for some timers. That should have finished now, so just deleting the IceTV recordings and recreating them may solve the problem. Doing a disable IceTV/Enable IceTV/Fetch EPG & timers may also help.

Well, things are really weird now. I don't know exactly what is going on, but I suspect there might be an IceTV issue. I've only got 4 timers set, for the 19th and 20th. There should be about a dozen or so more earlier then those. Looking at the IceTV My Week page, there are no timers showing whatsoever. I've left a message on IceTV, to hopefully get this all cleared up.

Will keep you informed.

I learned an important lesson today. I was not aware that IceTV and the T4 were so tightly integrated. In trying to solve my original failed timer problem I inadvertently created a bigger one :)

By deleting all the timers on the T4, it told IceTV's server that I didn't want those timers, so I couldn't figure out why when I hit resend timers on the IceTV site, or fetch guide and timer data on the T4 nothing was happening.

I ended up leaving a message for IceTV support and Dave informed me of what had happened and went into their server and reset all 20 plus timers. Not a good look for me :)

Anyway, will see what happens now.

Cheers
