Credit card expiry causes IceTV to lock up screen on BeyonWiz

Post by Banksiaboy » Wed Nov 24, 2021 18:19

Annoying I can't post the screen-grab.
There is an Error message locking up the screen with a modal dialog, 401 Client error [blah bal] account has expired.
How do I get rid of this. I've pushed exit, return, ok
I should still be able to use my recorder. I've also updated CC details so account is valid.
Originally it aske me to re-enter my password. It should have said 'account expired' rather that run me around.
Not an obvious user interface at all

Cheers...

I've tried to clean up IceTV server error messages, but it's hard to do that without knowing exactly what they can be.

If you've renewed your credit card, and still get the error when you log in, you need to contact IceTV about it.

You should be able to clear any error message from the IceTV plugin with either EXIT or OK, or wait for it to time out.

You can stop the plugin trying to contact the server until you get the account problem sorted with IceTV by disabling IceTV.

I could give more specific advice if you gave more information about the error message, particularly what it says at the start of the message. The "401 Client error ... account expired" part of the error message comes from the IceTV server, so it doesn't help me locate exactly what error popup is being displayed.

I'm happy to take on any suggestions about how the interface could be improved. I don't recall anyone ever having reported this particular issue before.

Thanks. I recovered by ssh in as root and `reboot`
I have a screen shot of the dialog from the web-interface.
How do I post it to this forum?

Cheers...

Create a post, click on the Attachments tab below the text entry box, then click on the Add files button, and select the file in the file browser that pops up.

If you want to place the image within the post text instead of at the end of the post, place the text cursor where you want the image to go, then click the Place inline button beside the file name.

If you place the image inline in the post, you may want to add extra newlines around the tags that Place inline adds.

The Preview button can help you to get the look the way you want it to be.

The 'system-modal' error dialogue:

I agree that the error message is a mess, but that error popup should be able to be dismissed with either OK or EXIT. However, it won't time out by itself.

I tried everything - nothing made it go away - as I said I had to ssh in and force a reboot.

I think that that may point to the freeze and the popup not being related to each other, but it's hard to say without more information. Do you have debug logging enabled on your Beyonwiz? And before you rebooted, did you try restarting the GUI by doing init 4 then init 3 (stop/start GUI from command line)? Given what you've described, that probably wouldn't have worked, even if you'd tried it.

I'm currently working on cleaning up error messages resulting from exceptions raised from the IceTV server, to give something like this (different error condition, though - it's too hard to create a credit card error):

That may have worked, or possibly an OWIF Restart GUI or Restart Box, as -

I think that OpenWebif runs on a different thread from the main UI dispatch loop, but the SIGTERM processing that's done in enigma2 when init 4 is run is done by the main UI dispatch loop. If that's wedged, then I don't think that init 4 will stop enigma2.
