Samba mount protocol version selector

Post by peteru » Fri Feb 14, 2020 16:17

I created Bitbucket issue #733 with a proposal for enhancing the UI to choose the SMB protocol version. If anyone is interested in this, please feel free to implement. I won't have time to look at any code for at least a month.

Is there any way that the data collected by the network browser scan could set an appropriate default for each server?

Not that I am aware of. It may be possible to create a utility to discover what the server supports, if one does not exist already. Some research may be required.

Current kernel versions implement SMB protocol version negotiation, but I don't think that backporting this to older kernels would be all that easy. Moving to a newer kernel is also difficult.
