SSD recommendations for a V2
SSD recommendations for a V2
Hi All,
I'm about to buy a V2, and am thinking of running an external SSD. I found that a 2 TB HDD took a bit too long for listings of all the movies. Any thoughts or recommendations?
This is a portable at a fairly good price point. But a portable drive may not be built for the duty cycle of a PVR.

Thanks in advance for any comments,
Togo

Re: SSD recommendations for a V2
That SSD should work fine.
Just make sure it is kept well away from heat sources, as running it for long periods could cause it to warm up.
If you find that you have an unmanageably large recordings folder, that is filled with TV series recordings, then I recommend the Series2Folder plugin.
As the name implies, this plugin will automatically move all recordings of a TV series into their own folders (as long as the series name is consistent across the recordings).
This will significantly speed up directory listings, as the Wiz will no longer need to go looking into hundreds of metadata files to fetch the extra information shown in the Media Player interface.

Re: SSD recommendations for a V2
Thanks very much for the advice, MrQuade.
Series2Folder should be a big help with directory listings, as well as making managing the recordings easier. And getting metadata for the Media Player interface certainly explains the time the listings sometimes take.

No worries!
You can find the plugin here. (It's not one of the "built in" ones you can install from the Wiz's GUI).
