This has now happened twice. On my U4 I have attached to the USB 3 port a powered USB hub. If I shut down the U4, and turn off the U4 using the rear switch, it ties to boot up using the power supplied by the USB 3 hub. Turning off the wall switch and and/or disconnecting the power supply does not stop this from happening. The poor thing goes continually tries to boot but presumably does not have sufficient power to complete the process.
Not sure if this is a hardware problem or a firmware problem. But it would be good if there is a way of defeating this disconcerting behaviour.

Re: U4 tries to run powered by USB 3 hub
Why is the hub pushing power upstream to the host?
Re: U4 tries to run powered by USB 3 hub
After I posted the same thing occurred to me. I could understand it if it were a docking station where it is used to charge a notebook, but it I suspect it would not have sufficient power to do that - I think it is only USB 3.0.
I think it is bad idea for this to be happening, so will swap the USB hub for another one. Have to take the U4 out to replace the HDD when I have tested it to see why it was unhappy. Incentive for me to do so rather than continually deferring doing so.
