T4 Power Supply
T4 Power Supply
Does anyone know the output rating of the T4 power supply?
I just replaced my hard drive and noticed that the 450v 120uf capacitor is slightly bulging.
Rather than frigging around repairing it, I plan on just putting a sealed power brick of suitable output, along the lines of a laptop PSU.
After 30 years of running my IT business I have a lot of them lying around
12V 5A should be enough?

Re: T4 Power Supply
Coming from the other end, the mains side power consumption of the T4 is ~30-35W depending on configuration and what it's doing, so I think that the 60W supply you're proposing should be ample.

Doesn't the T4 supply put out a variety of voltages to the T4 motherboard? (3.5V, 5V??)

Re: T4 Power Supply
Gerhardp1 is correct. You can see the power supply connection in the image in this post, even with the bit of camera shake. Three yellow, three black.
Other voltages are generated on the mainboard (e.g. the notorious regulators for the T4 tuners).

Re: T4 Power Supply
Gerhardp1,
Did you end up replacing the power supply?
How did it go?

Re: T4 Power Supply
I put in a 65W 12v brick which worked fine.
Ended up getting a new cap and soldered it on, and put the original power board back in.
450V 120uf 105c cap.
