U4 locks up selecting channel from EPG

Hello All
I've had my U4 for 12 months or so and not had big issues until now. My firmware is up to date.
What happens is if I am in EPG and scroll to a channel then hit OK to select, she stays on the existing channel on the box display, but the TV screen is black and no amount of swearing or pressing buttons will unlock her.
It can then take up to three hard reboots to restore everything to normal until you try the same thing again ...and get the same problem. The work around is to select the channel from the number buttons while in EPG but this is not ideal...according to 'she who must be obeyed'.

I'm hoping someone has a bright idea.

BTW, I'm not a tech head so if someone wants me to check my whosiemawhatsit file...you'll need to put it in kiddie speak so that I can put tab A into slot A etc.

My firmware is up to date.

It's usually better to say what your firmware version is, i.e. the date stamp displayed in MENU>Information>About>Revision.

Rescan your services (MENU>>Setup>>Tuners>>Location scan). Do you get the same behaviour when you try your issue again?

If yes -
Save your settings (MENU>>Setup>>Software manager>>Create backup)
Then do a factory reset (MENU>>Setup>>System>>Factory reset)
Then upon restart perform the minimal setup (scan for TV services, no need for network).
Then try again - same issue?

To restore your settings - MENU>>Setup>>Software manager>>Restore backup)
