Sorry, poor explanation.
It's the "diagonal line across a blue circle" you see when a function is not allowed in that state, eg, change channels while in playback.
That could be called the "invalid keypress icon".
That would be clearer!

Internally it's called UnhandledKey, but I can go with "invalid keypress" :)

If it appears to be temperature sensitive, then it's most probably the screws that hold the front panel in place.

You can try tightening those screws (each screw also doubles up as the sensor for a button), or put washers under them. Either way, they need to make good contact. Be careful not to overtighten the screws - doing so can damage the front panel.
Ok, I'll try removing each in turn and refitting. I didn't realise that row of screws also held the panel in, I had guessed they were part of the touch buttons only.

The issue probably started when it got hot last week, but it's now quite cool, so it's not temperature sensitive in the normal sense.
ok, done that. removed the panel, lightly scratched up the sensor pad to ensure it is making good contact.
Still switched itself off overnight.
i'll try creating a small shied between the ps and the front panel. (say, cardboard with foil, earthed to the chassis.) that should block any stray interference.

It could be some other piece of equipment. I've had issues with external EMI interfering with the front panel sensors. That has actually caused me to find a faulty power supply for another device.

You might want to search for posts about the front panel by me. I've covered this issue in detail a number of times over the years.

Of course, this is all assuming we're looking in the right place and your issues are actually caused by the front panel buttons. Capturing logs might help. If there are stray front panel button presses involved, the logs will indicate those.

Also when you next take the lid off it might be worth snapping a photo and posting it.

We can then guide you if there is anything obvious not covered in the discussion.

There is a network switch sitting on top, on a stand about 75mm high, just shifted that out of the way.

Which logs, where/how do I find them?

I've been advised (warkus) to move the psu cable off the top of the board.

Photo to come, need to resize

Ps, moving the network switch didn't help...

Some success, but not complete.
A cable rearrangement, see pictures.
The incidence has dropped substantially, from multiple times per hour to once every day or two.
Turned on logging, now to see what it catches.
I may try a small shield behind the front panel.

Has your T3 power supply been serviced / reconditioned in the last 12 months or so? If so, who did the job? If not, you should probably have that done by Warkus.

Oh, never mind! Going back to previous page and it sounds like you had Warkus do the PSU refurb. Although I am surprised to see that there is some hot snot left on a few of the caps.
