T4 tuners have died

Post by Gruntas » Wed Mar 08, 2017 22:49

Beyonwiz t4 having reception issues after waking from standby, then progressively getting worse.
Waking the t4 from standby, the image would be all corrupted on every channel.
Restarting the t4 would fix the issue at first. but then a few days later didn't make any difference.
I re-tuned the stations and chose the ones with the strongest signal's, and it seemed ok for a day.

Came home today and all channels not displaying any picture, just a black screen.
Changed from Tuner A to B, and the picture was there, but all corrupt on all signals.
Changed to Tuner C and the picture was perfectly fine on all channels.

Tuner C started having the same issue as well.

Now all tuners had no signal at all.

Done a factory reset and setup as a new unit.
No stations were found during the scan.

Checked the tuners in setup and none of them were showing up.

playing old recordings works fine,
EPG still shows up.

Plugged the aerial into the TV and all stations found and working.

So it appears my T4 has 4 dead tuners, rendering it to just a T.

When you tested each tuner, were you using the included antenna daisy chain jumper cables, or did you feed each tuner with its own separate connection to the antenna?

You say:

Also, did you try Menu->Information->Devices? It should show 4 tuners as the first entry group. If not, a hardware fault is likely.

Reinstalling the firmware is a user option to eliminate as a potential cause but, if not, next stop would be a support call to Bwiz.

Tested each one separately.

Yeah, checked there and now no turners show up.

I'll try reloading the firmware, not going to hold my breath though.

Submitted a ticket a couple days ago and tried calling. no answer or response back...

Sorry I know this awhile ago but I had similar problems that has dragged out for over a year , tuners replaced under warranty and still freezes and crashes .
Worked out in the cooler months this does not happen then reappeared again for the last summer .
I placed the T4 on top of the stereo cabinet for better airflow which made little difference and I recently contacted support as to ideas to install a fan inside as Im sure this is heat related and they confirmed a customer in Nth Qld had similar problems and placed a usb fan pointed at the tuners which worked for him . I brought a fan but haven't had a hot enough day yet to say it helps
My climate is not as extreme as I am in Brisbane .
Hope that helps
