Ps3

Post by blt » Fri Jun 05, 2015 17:19

Hi. I am trying to watch my beyonwiz recordings through the PS3. I've tried using the open webif but when I click on the recording I want to play the PS3 just creates a streaming folder but nothing happens. I assume it is because the PS3 doesn't
T recognize the file format. Has anyone got their PS3 playing the recordings? Can you help please?

That is a very roundabout way of watching your recordings. (Not sure if it can be made to work to be honest)

The PS3 can happily play recordings via the T3's DLNA server. The T3 will appear as "MiniDLNA" with a penguin icon in the PS3's video section. :)

Hmm, it sounds like you might have an old version of firmware installed on the T3? By default, in the latest firmware, the DLNA server is called "miniDLNA Server" and is enabled automatically at startup.

I'm not sure what else could have changed the name of the DLNA server unless you had changed something yourself?

Do you record onto an internal hard disk in the T3?

Hi again. Sorry not too good with All this tech stuff but I did download and install the latest update about a month ago. When I go to network then network services then Dlna server it comes up with a screen "mini Dlna setup" . That screen shows auto start as active and current status running. The name and interface boxes are blank. Not sure what of the other settings might be relevant .... Yes record to the hdd/movie on internal memory.... Not sure if you can still help!?

You're doing well so far :)

However, something looks messed up with your settings.

Mine look like this:
1_0_1_2E2_261_3201_EEEE0000_0_0_0.jpg
It is possible that a bad set of config files was restored and broke your settings.

I recommend that you press "Menu" and then enter in all of the same settings that I have.

Then you can stop and then start the service again so the setting take effect.

Note that I use the Ethernet connection on my T3, not wireless, so my interface is "eth0". If you use wireless, then this will be different.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes your settings make much more sense than mine. Only one issue ... How do I actually change the info in the boxes. Only seems like I can change whether running or not, auto start on or off or remove service or show log.....

You just have to press "Menu" and then you can navigate to each setting and change it to your preference.

If you have a text field highlighted, you can press the "Text" button on your remote to bring up an on-screen keyboard to make typing a bit easier.

Just a note, I was just testing this out, and pressed "Text" on the Port field, and crashed the T3. It seems that both the Port and Serial Number field will crash the T3 is you press "Text". So just fill in those fields with the number keys on your remote :).

I'll file a bug report for the crash.

Well doesn't matter as is now working. You have made my day! I have been trying to sort this for ages and never would have realized on my own what the problem was. Your good deed for the day is done!

Does pressing "Menu" in the MiniDLNA screen do anything at all for you?

When I press it on mine, it displays this screen:
1_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0.jpg
If yours is not doing anything, then I suspect something else in your settings might be deeply broken.

It might be worth re-flashing your firmware, and choosing not to restore your old settings.

See if it works with clean settings. You can then restore your saved settings again and see if it breaks again. If it breaks with your saved settings, then you might want to re-flash again and set everything up from scratch. (painful)

Excellent :) Glad it is working.

It might be worth checking those settings as I described though, just in case it causes problems for you later on down the track.

Oh, and the other easier thing to try, is a full reboot of the T3 and see if you can get the DLNA settings after that. Might be as simple as a "turn it on and off again" problem ;).

Though turning it off then on again is usually a better fix :P
