streaming tv/webmin

Post by dkarthur » Fri Apr 25, 2014 11:25

Been playing a bit with the streaming tv option through the webmin - and I have to say "awesome"!
first time I fired it up on the anzac day march it was broken up and fraggy and I thought it was broken - but I've tried a heap of other shows/channels since and it works fine...

A couple of questions/suggestions though ..

1) at the moment I am feeding the video through VLC (that's the default for the m3u file comes down..). Any other users using other players? I'm itching to try it through ipad/iphone (which have vlc support) - although I suspect wireless connectivity won't really be up to it... which raises the next point ..

2) are there any options to downgrade the size of the streamed video? at the moment SD comes through (as expected) at 720x576 - which is really only going to work (I suspect) over a LAN grade connection. (My T3 is plugged in via an ethernet over power adapter...) If you could drop the size down you could stream via wireless OR setup some appropriate port forwards on your router and surface it over the Internet. (I'm thinking of a mate of mine in China who would love to be able to access live AFL even if it was only small!)

But it's a fantastic feature .... thinking of working in the studio with a small box for Cricket/football etc.... Hmm.. maybe not ideal or conducive to high output coding!

Cheers

snap! just was testing that when your post came through... the copy/paste is a bit crufty but I can live with it.

works pretty well via wireless as well! (to my surprise....)

tried it on my wireless laptops which don't have VLC and it used Windows Media Player ... VLC is better!!!!!

not really .. they are semi work ones that I churn over every few months .. so I try not to install a lot of non-standard stuff on them. but VLC is pretty harmless.. it does reinforce how bloated and horrible WMP has become .. they really lost the plot with that product.

with the webmin - cant seem to make the "add timer" button work on the mobile version (safari ios7 iphone4) work. When you press it nothing seems to happen and nothing goes into the timer list. The full webmin on a pc/ipad works fine ...
Has anyone else had this issue? Wonder if its across the board on mobile web or just ios/safari.

it is probably the full version being an ipad.

Just tried iphone and got mobile version., and I could zap but not see how to record.

Full version was linked at bottom of screen as well.

Is web in a download from AppStore or something else?
How do you stream to iPad?
3TB T3 on 4.4.20160729FW
DP-P1 on .320FW & life support...
