Video file types playback without problems

Is there any definitive list of Video files types/extensions of files not recorded by my T2 that I should be able to play back without any problems for FF/FR and with subtitles that I can turn on/off if required.

The list of file extensions recognised by the firmware as potentially playable video is: .3g2, .3gp, .asf, .avi, .dat, .divx, .flv, .m2ts, .m4v, .mkv, .mov, .mp4, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mts, .ogm, .ogv, .rm, .rmvb, .ts, .vob, .webm, .wmv.

Exactly what encodings withing those file types can be played is a much harder question. It's mostly "try and see".

There's also the issue that some of those file types can have DRM applied. If so, even if the encoding is playable, actual playback may not be possible.

And while it can be embedded into the main file, eg as part of a mkv, .srt files are the only subtitle files that can be turned on and off.

I have a lot of avi, wmv and many mp4s that the wiz won't play. No doubt it's due to the codec used. Suck it and see is definitely a regular event in my household.
