Status message if recording active

Post by CJSStK » Sun Oct 28, 2018 15:58

Hi there. Just seeking a bit of advice re setting up a status message that would display if a recording is active when dropping back to live TV following completion of watching a previously recorded show. I've looked through the various setup options but cannot find an item that I think provides this. It would be helpful to have as I would know whether I could use my remote to immediately put the device into standby, or leave it alone until the end of recording when the autostandby time would kick in. My old Topfield had this facility - the message displayed for a number of configurable seconds and showed the number of recordings active. Thanks!

The Wiz can record in standby without issue.

Thanks for the response. Yes I understand that the Wiz can record from standby. Its more a matter of convenience as If I know that no recording is active I'll revert to standby straight away rather than leave it to when the auto standby activates. And the briefly displayed status messages on the Topfield let me know if something was actively recording.

Personally, I just press Media to see if recordings are active.

I'm talking about recording _in_ standby. It matters not to the Wiz if you put it to standby from live TV whilst it is actively recording (in fact, it's slightly better as it won't also be timeshifting the current live TV program).

The "auto standby" Power Timer won't have an issue if the Wiz is already in standby.
From live TV, if you want to see if recordings are occuring, press OK to bring up the InfoBar and it'll show if there are recordings being made. You can also press the TIMER button. Or you could install adoxa's 'Current Timer' plugin, then you press RED, and can control the timers from there.

Also, even if you ask the PVR to go to deep standby from a POWER button press (rather than the Power/Restart menu), it will initially go to standby to complete recording, and then to deep standby when all recordings have completed.

That happens for us most nights (we leave our T4 in deep standby when not in use).

AFAIK, that's not by default, as one has to change the button setting Action on (short|long) POWER to be "Immediate shutdown".

Yes, that's correct. I was simply pointing out that that also keps running recordings.

Just to clarify, as the name suggests, only "current" timers can be controlled - that's timers currently running and due to start (and have finished) two hours from now. Here's the initial post, with the latest version linked near the bottom of the topic.
